I wouldn't say that the editing and polish were the problems. The writing was a cringey power fantasy mess. I'm just tired of people beating this horse well past it's death.

He actually said somewhere that the show is good but nothing that spectacular or groundbreaking. This is more of an abridged mini-series he does.
Also I don't recall any mention of SAO in this one, might have forgotten already though.
