Analogue became essential just before the PS2 came out though.When most games required it.
I only remembered Ape Escape required it in PSX... No other games needed it.

I'm good too~! D: -eating atm- I had a fun trip with mah famry yesterday sat/sun~:D I dove around in the pool and jacuzzi'd and sun tanned~! ....didnt get a tan buuuuut I did get some UV rays at least~xD (Clouds kept retreating) bah! darn clouds~
xD I was more annoyed by the rain than the clouds yesterday, kept screwing up how long it took to get the job done yesterday XD called for sunny all day, but rained a bunch -_- stupid weather lol

Well, sonce most other games have gamepad support AND it feels more authentic to play woth a pad (srsly, playing PS with a keyboard is blasphemy).
@ shane: In most games the D-Pad is used for sub-menues like weapon change or in, for example, InFamous you activate certain skills with it.
Vivi is just a cutesy version of Black mage.
