Well I actually mean it to a certain extent. If someone I know IRL actually smokes, I try not to get involved with them at all if I can.... Not that I hate them for that tho, but still... I really don't want to...

But then this is internet.... Why would I hate him when him smoking doesn't actually involve or concerns me at all.... That doesn't makes sense....

I remember when I was 6 year old and my father still smokes back then, I kinda tried to scold him every time I caught him smoking.... And dump all the cigars I see in my house to the trash can.... And I even take out the cigar he's been smoking directly and dump it to the trash can.... And even go as far as finding the secret places in my house where my father would hide his cigars and throw them all to the trash can in front of him... I really won't compromise about it if it's involving someone I care about IRL.

You can't make someone do something against their will though.
If he wants to smoke then that's his choice. You should just just keep trying to persuade him and nothing more.
How would you like it if someone threw away something you liked? It's just not the right way to do it.
