I can't help it, here's some theories that I discussed with my friends

first about the ape titan, that guy is not like the other "Ultraman" titan, why? first, he's can walk in the night, which is why there are only a few titan at night.

second, those walls are actually made by titans. why did they did this? originally, the titans were once humans and they thought that if someday they cannot control their hunger to eat humans, they will lead them in to the walls.

also, why didn't the titan just destroy the walls? it's because the walls are nearly impenetrable. it is made just like how the women titan made her parts hard. and it is also the same with the armored titan. so no matter how hard the titans try to destroy the walls, it is useless.

The wall was probably set up by a community of people who can pilot titans. These collosal type titan pilots are "sacrificed" by the inner circle royalties so that the wall is able to protect humanity from the brainless titans. That's what happened over a century ago. Notice how no "brainless" titans that invade humanity can actually achieve the size of a colossal up until now.

Something went wrong with the royalties of the city and the community of titan pilots, and the remnants of that community now (Bert, Annie, Reiner) were told to destroy humanity by their titan pilot overlords.
