I can't remember the name of it right now but the strip game with the zap gun on newgrounds comes to mind. Aaaaall the guys played it on lunch breaks when i was in school.

Bible Black, while infamous for it's anime and ova series, started out as an h-game.

There's also other anime series that started out as h-games, such as the Fate series, Kanon, Air, etc.

Then there's Katawa Shoujo, which besides its premise is well known for being a collaboration between users on 4chan.

In Japan, the Rance series is super famous. Rance IX just came out not long ago, though the only Rance game that has any fame among English speakers is Sengoku Rance (Rance VII).

Bible Black and Discipline:Record of a Crusade are two of the best that I have ever seen and play.

My favorites are the ECM flash games

Hah, I was destined to love Mikoto from Inyouchuu when that hit about ~6 or more years after the Viper stuff. <3 red heads.

Viper RSR was my favorite, the last one that was more hardcore and full on monster sex stuff. But yeah, surely any old fans can recall these games and the gifs floating around back in the day. Nothing like waiting 5 minutes on AOL dial up to get those bad boys fully loaded!

Rance games, of course, because the hero is badass.

And Eushully games too, because they're cool to play, like Kamidori...And of course, Soukoku no Arterial (my favorite eroge).

Bible black is the most known Hentai game known ever, everyone heard of that at least once (I played it, I rage quit'd it, and I uninstalled it.)


Among other known visual novel:
Katawa Shoujo, this is not the best visual novel ever, but it keeps a place in my heart as it opened the way for a lot of new VN devs.

Saya No Uta, how come it is not adapted into a manga drawn by Masasumi Kakizaki (well ok I got one of the doujinshi).
This visual novel is a masterpiece. I can't possibly say how much I love it.

Yume Miru Kusuru: It's a perfect first Visual Novel, it's best to begin with either this one, or Katawa Shoujo. It's got one of my favorite soundtrack.


For monster girls (I take it as separate because it's more fandom related):

Monster Girl Quest: Funniest VN I ever played, especially due to it's battle system.

Sei Monmusu Gakuen: not translated completely as of yet. It's got one of my favourite artist: Bubuzuke
