Some two years ago when I was making a game I improvised a shooting range as a part of it. I was overseeing it and I was lending my handgun to them. but being a responsible person I handed the gun with loaded magazine, but unloaded chamber and safety on. It was interesting to observe their reactions on that because they thought it would just take to them to pull the trigger and also I had fun with myself minimally interventioning in their atempts. They were all like "BUT IT DOESN'T WORK!!!"
And I just smiled and told them: "...Safety is on."

Check it out. Chinese police have been sighted using a FN Minimi copy. China already has their own AR-15 copy, the CQ Assault Rifle by NORINCO, I wouldn't be surprised if this is a Norinco make as well.
In less interesting news, Beretta reported that the US Army bought 100,000 more Beretta M9 pistols off of them, meaning they're most likely gonna keep on using the M9 for the next 5 years or so. Personally, I think the Army could go for a better gun. Soldiers already have a large load, there's a large variety of plastic-wonders out there that are a suitable replacement for the M9. One favorite is one of the candidates for the FHS program the US Army had earlier but cancelled, the FN FNP.

Chinese... I wonder what would they do if the could not copy. ^^'
I personally dislike M9 for personal reasons an this baby from FN looks nice but until I can shoot a mag or two from it I can't really say a thing.

Indeed, all what I say about firearms(F88 Austeyr and AK47 excluded) are only from the experience of other people. Personally, I would really love to be able to shoot any firearm I wish but there's that thing called the law.

Yeah. Czech laws are not so strick about firearms but still civilians can't hold A category of weapons. Only if they have an exception and getting that is not something that would be easy. Still I agree with my shooting instructor about one thing: Commonwealth are bunch of crazy people. If even the police doesn't carry guns and they ban every weponry they should also ban everything they can lift. Heck I can kill with almost everything you point at being it an umbrela or a piece of cord. Improvised weponry is much more scary than any other IMHO because it can do unpredictable damage while on other hand gunshot is gunshot no matter how you look at it.
And now that I think about it I wonder how many cartridges out there are sub-sonic by deafult. From head I can think only of Flobert and .22 LR...

Indeed, I actually practice how to fight with improvised weapons, I could dislocate a guys shoulder with a coat hanger even(courtesy of Kei).
And even on the topic, most gunshot wound cases aren't at all lethal, especially since most cases are with handguns which do not do so much damage. However, like you said, improvised weaponry is very unpredictable. In fact, not many people can imagine dislocating a person's shoulder with a coat hanger.

Yeah I can think of a thing or two to do with coat hanger, but not how to dislocate shoulder. That seems interesting. :)

Yeah, it needs to be those metal wire coat hangers. Plastic would just snap though wooden ones might hold out a little bit longer.

Like where to strike exactly? Is it better piercing or upper chop? Or the whole point is to bend the wire and trap the poor guys hand and then dislocate it?

Sort of, not sure how to explain it with only words but you're holding the hook part. You get the bottom part(that part that you usually will fold the pants over) on his palm(this would be if you're behind him) and pretty much you pull it towards you and somewhat upwards.
I'm not very good with explaining techniques with words. If Kei was here, I'd be willing to demonstrate with him in a video and show you but. . . yeah.
