Which got me thinking... what qualifies as genuine conversation?
When 2 political enemies meet, they could have an in-depth conversation, but with hypocrisy involved. On the other hand, 2 forum members may be genuinely glad to see one another, after a long period of inactivity. :D
Genuine conversation is what extends significantly past the standard greeting and consists of discussion of anything that isn't petty gossip.
Of course- what constitutes as petty gossip is entirely subjective. Fashion would not be gossip for those who design clothes, for instance.
As for the political discourse, I suppose it technically qualifies. It may not be sincere, but it is a conversation concerning matters of importance. (At least, that's what they
should be talking about).
