                        The whole "Ship is a girl" thing is predominantly an English-speaking thing though. And Japanese I guess, since some of the names are ambiguous enough. 
In German or virtually all Slavic languages though, "warship" is an explicitly male term, hence pretty much every surface warship made in these parts is actually a dood.
