well they are HURricanes, not HIMacanes (bad joke I know). and why do you occasionally have the same hurricane come back, could they just not come up with a new name on the fly?

Alfred, Bethany, Chad, Diana
And so on.

have there been many since Katrina? because i don't remember too many since then and I is before K, also how many girl names start with Z or X? I'm not sure your theory is correct.

(although there exists many a woman that has fire for blood, but I think we are pretty underrated in the "calm" category)

I'm not sure your theory is correct.Hurricanes are constantly coming of the shores of Africa as tropical storms, we just don't talk about them cause the majority die before reaching the United States, but they are nevertheless named by the list of set hurricane names developed every year. Last year, or maybe the year before that, we had so many hurricanes that the naming system had to switch to roman numerals.
The pattern of naming is also restarting every year.
So Alfred, Bethany, Chad, Diana would be the names for 2008 and next year would be a new set of names starting with an "A" name with a female gender as opposed to the Male name last year. The names are also not made-up as they come, there is a set list made each year with all 26 names A-Z already prepared before the next Hurricane season starts.
