Weird relatives

So I was at my grandmother's house earlier and we got into a conversation about which places we would like to visit based on the type of music we like.
She said she would want to go to Branson, MO and Tennessee because she likes Country/ Western.
I said I would like to visit Poland, Finland, Norway, and Sweden because I like Death Metal.
My grandma had never heard of metal music before, so she asked me what kinds of instruments were used in it. In a slight sarcastic tone (because I kind of figured she wouldn't want to listen to it anyway...) I just said guitar, bass, and drums.
She said "Well I don't see why I wouldn't like it, it has guitar in it..."
Well anyway, to shorten the whole conversation, she got me to play a song from Behemoth off of my iPod so she could listen to it. So I chose Demigod.
I was surprised she didn't immediately take the headphones out. Her eyes widened a bit when Nergal started singing (if that's what you want to call it).
What caught me by surprise the most, was how she asked what was happening at 2:56 and I said that the drummer is hitting the bass drum really fast with 2 pedals. AND SHE LIKED IT! :O
She said, she actually liked the song and wanted to hear another one, but from a different band. So I played Para Bellum + This is the War by VADER.
She said she liked this one even more because of the soft intro and how it got heavier!
Now, I dont know about you, but finding out my 86 year old grandma could be a metal head is definitely one of the biggest surprises Ive seen in my family.

If you have any other weird stories about family members, not just grandparents, where you learned something about them that you thought wasn't even possible, please share. :D

I have weird grandparents too.
My grandpa taught me how to make a bowl from ice for pot. Not that I ever did it.
He also asked me if I was having sex with Fpod before we moved in together (he visited whenever he had a truck nearby up north) and before I could even answer he told me I was stupid if I wasn't, because he looked like a pretty decent man.
My grandpa is a pagan but also has Buddhist principles.
He acts like a kid still and I'm pretty sure still lights them up.

Your grandma is awesome.
My grandparents are very nice and gentle people, even if they are a little conservative. Too bad my grandpa isn't doing good and probably will not make it to next year. But that's aside the point.

I don't have weird grandparents and they are actually a pretty lovable bunch, but we would never be able to find the same interests like you did with your grandma.

On my mom's side:
My grandma is awesome, I love her so much, she always takes me out to chinese buffets whenever we go visit her. She also knows a ell of a lot about Law (probably from watching Judge Judy almost 24/7 -.-)
My grandpa also knows alot about law, and has that weird tendeny to call inanimate objects "she". Other than that, he's a cool guy.
On my dad's side:
I can't understand what they say half the time. Damn accent.

One day while visiting my uncle we had finished our business in town and got gas to go home. So we were driving home (he was at the wheel.) But what I didn't notice was he was drinking the whole way there. He had a PBR tallboy shoved up the wrist of his sleeve like some kind of bad extremely low functionality cybernetic hand. When I learned this I kept silent so as not to break the judgment he already had. My uncle lives in the country and to get to his house there's a set of winding roads that leads up there.
While he was driving around these windy roads at in the crispy sunny hour of 2 AM I was silently making my piece with whatever god would listen and counting the number of turns. Finally he skids and turns into a stop. I look up and to my dismay I was not in the driveway of his house but at the dead end of a long winding road with several houses on either side of the street, hidden by the trees and darkness. When I ask him where we are he belches and says "You wanted to try and drive this caddy right?"

My grandpa is long gone now, but he sure was weird how i remembered him.
Smoked his wee pipe for 40 years and lived to 98 years o.O. On an occasion when i was about 8 years old, gave me a smoke of said pipe (tasted like shit how i remembered it at the time). Also gave me alcohol at the age of 10, tricked me into taking it too saying that it was coke not beer.
Sneaky old man.

My grandparents are weird! My Grandpa loves to carry around a video camera (makes me wonder what other types of movies he makes)
and my grandma loves to talk about her teen years (she says she was the life of the party, and that if she could get around like she use too she would...talking about multiple sex partners...)
yeah...
