Scientifically speaking, I agree with Pumpjack. It's our final and eternal rest.
sometimes, I am scare to believe that
But you know, I don't see death as something you should be scared of, I mean, think of it as our eternal and final rest, since living so long will eventually get you tired and sick of the world anyway, or at least that is how I see it.

I see your point, but wouldn't it be nice if you can reborn again as animals so you don't have to worry about anything. Then again, I would miss Fakku D=

I don't know why people always say once you die that's it. How can you know unless you've died? You can't ask a dead person if there is an after life in some shape or form. The easiest answer is no one knows. Not the religious nutjobs and neither the scientists. No one knows 100% for sure what happens after you die. Just live life and find out when the time comes.

Personally, I like to believe that happens what you think it happens. I'm not religious or anything, but I believe in the power of our own minds. So, I believe that if you believe there's nothing after, there won't be. If you believe you reincarnate, you will. Stuff like that.
In the end, yes, no one knows, maybe there is, maybe there isn't. At least for me, if I can get answered all the questions I've ever had, I'll be happy. But since I'm not in a rush to die, I'll just keep going on with my life until the time comes and I find out.

There is nothing.
You know when you black out after boozing it up?
Exactly the same.
A slumber with no dream.

There was an article I read somewhere that when someone believes nothing happens after death they go into a dreamless slumber. The moral of that article was that the afterlife is what you make it.

When my mother was little my grandma got into an accident too and was in the hospital, she says that suddenly she felt an indescribable peace, and saw her own body lying in the hospital's bed and felt like floating, like going away. Then she remembered her daughters, and started praying (she's a very religious person, but in a beautiful way) to go back, and so she was. And indeed, she had clinically died, but came back and we still have her until this day.
At least, that's what she told my family and me, personally I don't think she's lying. Was it her imagination? An astral trip? Did she tell us that for her daughters to feel better? We might never know. But quoting Prometheus; That's what I chose to believe.

Dat optimism.
I haven't had that much of it since I was a child. Before life kicked my arse eight ways past that way.

I think this theory might be pretty close to truth.
"I didn't exist before I was conceived. I won't exist after I'm dead. By definition all states of non-existence are identical."
Maybe the whole past lives thing is true but we just can't recall anything. Basically we are a bunch of matter that floats around until we become a human and then after we die the whole process starts again. I mean you can't recall the time you didn't exist so it would be the same when you die and vice versa.

Spoiler:
Oh, there is no doubt about our continued existence, no.
But we shall only exist as a corpse and rotting gas, and then as soil, larvae, and mosses and grass.
It is the termination of our conscious mind. That is what terrifies me. That is what I selfishly- what we all selfishly- hope to cling onto past the transitional phase of our corporeal being.
That we- somehow, maybe- just may be able to continue to bear witness to the world around us. That is the comfort of existing. That our minds will exist. Our so-called 'souls'.
But that. That- is folly.
Even if our will does somehow remain as some mysterious force, our personas that we use to formulate our identities shall not.
As a greater collective- as in the Hindu idea of Brahman- I suppose it's alright.
But, damn it all- I do like the concept of me.
It is something that we embody, impersonate all our lives. It is one of the very few bastions of stability that we may rely on amongst the turmoil of a chaotic world of misery and ruin. That is why memory loss is so devastating.
Death is total, absolute, irreversible Amnesia.
Yes, I do dwell on this topic very often. It comes natural when you can see the finish line.

Can I ask you this, let's say you died in another life and that persona ceased to exist with all memories included and then you were born as you are now. Could you tell if you existed in a previous life? No. Once you're dead you don't know. Maybe if you had died (beyond revival) after a while so would your memories and then you would start a whole new existence and you'd have no idea who you were in the past life because it doesn't exist anymore. The one time I blacked out I forgot that I pissed my pants but if someone hadn't told me I probably would have never known what actually happened.
