btw, don't know about you, but my teachers were smart enough to google/wiki and crosscheck it with essays.

You could still pull facts and embed them in your own writing, though. Wiki isn't vital, sure, but it certainly makes information hunting a lot more convenient.
The only field you can't rely on it for is journalism, as proven on umpteen occasions which I cba to link. Made-up facts work in essays etc. where one teacher often won't be abke to disprove them; not so much the case when millions of people are reading your article. Especially good when the information is obviously a joke and the guy doesn't notice; I remember a Guardian article which utilised Wiki for background info on a London festival, and came up with an original name of 'Wanky Balls'. :p

good point. i often change things around alot so there almost impossible to tell they are from wikipedia.

Wiki is (or was, for me) a good way to look up sources, which I would then find in the library... the teachers even accepted some quotes from wiki, but handling a copypasta essay was usually a suicide move.
