I like Japanese movies better because they seem to have a better story and are not as predicable as our movies. What do you guys think?

I would say american movies, but thats cause they have a bigger budget, more actors, and flashy movies. But i have nothing wrong with Japanese movies.I think they can be better sometimes.I need to watch more to get a better view on movies in Japan.

In the end it comes down to the writing, I mean Japan and US have there times but i'd go with Japan. My reason being I'm more into the storyline plot than the whole *BOOM* "FIRE!" scene... It rather bores me instead.

Were the blockbuster movies Transformers 2, The Hangover, or Star Trek made in japan?
(uhmm no..)
So, those Kickass! movies like those 3 came from the US..
I chose US..
Cuz I like de ACTION!!@#$@%
[size=10]not da ninja shit japan can only come out with..[/h]
Japan can stick to there Anime/Hentai/Manga/Doujins..
Thats the only thing i like that comes out of that country..

US for special effects, Japan for story.
New Zealand for both TBH, i think we make the best movies - LOTR, Whale Rider, Once were Warriors, King kong etc. To bad we don't make many movies.

The US makes all that "Hollywood" sh!t but Japan makes nice quirky films/Historically accurate films. (Dont get me started on U-571)
They can both make quality movies but im gonna roll with Japan mainly cause with US films it always ends with a nice happy ending... Usually!
With Japanese films it can have a BAD END and thats what I like to see. (Everyone secretly wants to see the bad end happen)

If you want historically accurate films... I think there are a lot made in the United States.
Pearl Harbor... That one sucked...
Flags of our Fathers... Awesome...
The Patriot
Letters from Iwo Jima
Saving Private Ryan
Just to name a few...
And plot! American Movies have awesome plots! And Action! PLOTS + ACTION = WIN!
Star Trek, Iron Man, Star Wars, Million Dollar Baby, Gran Torino, Up, Wall-E... Just to name a few more...
GRAN TORINO!!! AWESOME MOVIE!!!
You should add the whole world. India makes a pretty good movies as does the UK... Slumdog Millionaire!

Transformers was a long commercial for Megan Fox's ass and some cars.
Therefore I conclude that Japan wins.

Does anyone even know what Japan released this year?I only follow releases by directors I know and like, and the only 2009 release in that dept. is Kûki ningyô, as all the other Japanese directors I like (Hiroshi Teshigahara, Shohei Imamura, Akira Kurosawa, ...) are already dead.

I'm pretty sure Schindler's List, Changeling, Frost/Nixon, Gandhi, and Hotel Rwanda are very accurate. A little dramatized, but very historically accurate.
