It's because people (not just in America) like being treated with basic decency. Would you like it if some random person walked up and called you an idiot? I doubt it. You'd probably get pretty annoyed. So, why do you think people are treating you this way?

Maybe, try not being so insulting and abrasive before you blame others - you can take your fate into your own hands, and if you're not treating others badly, they might respect you a bit more.

The golden rule is to treat others how you want to be treated, and on the internet people tend to take negativity and escalate it, so by being negative and insulting you're creating the opportunity for people to do the same to you.

Yeah but I've seen some pretty stupid shit on here, and my opinions look nice by comparison - why aren't those users getting ban threats and tons of shit?
