that chick, that you are fighting with, is that her actual picture?
Yes... it's stupid I know.
Then again, I don't really care.
We're not fighting, I'm just running a social experiment.
She thinks we're fighting, but it's just her throwing a fit and whining for attention lol.
Sounds kind of like another attention whore I know

Dayum son.
I always found the chat function in docs too small. Only ever used docs for writing.

I actually don't chat using the chat at all - I have a comments section where I can chat with members and it all appears letter-by-letter in real time.
I like real time chat because it encourages people giving their honest thoughts and opinions more often.

Seeing your lack of presence in actual IM programs that's a bit hard to believe but, okay.

I like having transparency as the top priority despite it being flawed.
Plus in google docs you can always look over revisions and see what the original text was.

That's just being overly needy.

Why?
Is it needy to want peoples' honest opinions?
I hate having to translate in my own language, if you know what I mean.

You have to be pretty damn paranoid if you think people aren't being honest with you in IMs, or even general forum posts when there is little reason to have doubts of sincerity. Not everyone's an unpredictable koko. Transparency is imperfect because it's just robbing people of the privacy from their very fingers. There are times when your mind is off things and you could easily write the wrong thing. I understand the advantages of Google Doc. I understand how it's awesome writing real time--it's great for roleplaying or collaborating or even just plain writing--but going there for "honest" opinions sometimes is a bit over the top.

I don't believe in forcing transparency per se, but encourage its use in discussions to promote the growth of both parties as writers.
It's not only a tool for keeping people honest it's also a tool to polish your skills and adaptability.
Of course, that's just my opinion and it's my asshole, and just like any other it's not going to be agreeable to others at times.

How so? Please explain.
I really don't see how keeping people honest and improving one's skills are the same thing.

Again, people will more or less say the same thing whether it's a chat window or a google document. "Keeping people honest" is a bit of an overstatement.

The main purposes are for polishing one's skills and becoming more adaptable.
I like the niche purpose it serves for me, and perhaps a small portion of other writers.
One doesn't need to be 'paranoid' to enjoy the benefits of basic, real-time chat via keystrokes.
I respect your opinions, but in this case, I disagree with them.
However, as I respect your right to have those opinions I will not badger you to agree with me.
I am simply defending my position and explaining that my opinion is another valid opinion, alongside yours.
Yes, there are people whose privacy may be infringed, but it is wholly up to them whether or not to participate in the chat in the first place.
Not to mention, the results are generally helpful and harmless unless someone will ill intentions decides to make an example of someone.
It's not like anyone's giving their info away or selling their email address, so I don't see the harm in it.
As for why I personally don't use messengers that often - sure, it's not completely transparent, but that's mainly an excuse.
The biggest reason is - I'm very inconsistent in using IMs and social media.
I go on discord about once a week on average, though there are times I'm on every day for a few hours.
I rarely ever use facebook or and social media.
I mostly either stick to these forums or talking to people in real life.
So, having more diverse options to chat with people is not bad for me and makes life a little more interesting.
Edit: Oh, not to mention having thing on the same webpage when I do my writing is helpful in the case of discussions about the story itself.
That's one of the reasons I started using it to chat in the first place.

Just sayin', but I don't really see how it makes any difference from the usual talking. You're being honest now, right? Good, you already prove my point. You took your time to make it even more honest, clear, but perhaps too wordy, yet that's fine. It's the internet, after all.

I guess if you want to call a social experiment "hey let's try and provoke this one person".

This was done to get a rise out of more than one person, but I did indeed expect a reaction from them, despite this thread not being exclusive to them.
Since it did get a rise out of multiple people, I'd say the thread was succeeded in serving its purpose ^_^.
