Why is 'Avatar' shorted as 'Avi'
0
I'm lacking intelligence so I'm going to post here. (shorted was supposed to be shortened but nvm)
I'm pretty curious.
Only thing that I could think of was AVatar Image,
I did a research and they said it was a slang on twitter for avatar.
Retarded Ideas:
Adult Video Image
.avi video format
ETC
PS: Please feel free to use that IM@S Business Card, I made it myself.

Why is "You didn't even know" shortened as U.O.E.N.O?Oh the mysteries of raifu.
Edit: All I'm waiting for is when Pigs grow a pair of Angelic Wings and they'll start to soar the sky.

OT: The only thing I can say on avi's is that Yuuki's avi is not bouncy enough for Yuuki. Of course, I don't decide what avi's he uses, so who cares what I think.
That's really all I have on the subject...

Maybe it happened like gar? The only thing I can think of is that some user with a dialect said it and it caught on Avatar - avitar....there isn't too much tonal difference.

Ava is a person's name, and people opt for 'i' instead of 'y' because some people might mistake the pronunciation of 'Avy' as 'Ahv-eye'.

Avatar = Ava sounds lame + "ava" might be an acronym for something else.
Avatar = Avi sounds... Slightly less lame.

True, but it'd still be wrong.

If it was spelt with a "y" I think it'd actually be the correct pronunciation for English.

Fucked if I know.
For some reason I want to say a Roleplayer first coined the term "avi" as shorthand for "avatar" because they thought it would be cute, and it caught on.
