Spoiler:
Yes, many write operations (i.e. deleting and saving things) causes an HDD to become fragmented. Yes, a fragmented HDD is slower than a non-fragmented HDD as a fragmented HDD has to spin and seek more to get the same data. Yes, formatting an HDD will fix fragmentation; however, there's a thing call defragmentation. When you defragment an HDD, the fragmentation gets fixed without the annoyances of formatting. I know that Windows comes with a defragmenter built in (I think it's preset to run automatically every week). I also know that there are many free ones out there.
Fragmentation isn't so much bad as it is annoying. If you're referring to fragmentation leading to a sooner HDD failure, then you could consider it bad, but I don't feel like ranting on that. Short version: computers are there to be used.
As pointed out by Kaiuri, that video will be put on your HDD anyway unless you disable the cache; I don't recommend it; however, even then, if you max out your RAM while the video's in memory and page fault enough, you'll put that video on your HDD. The smaller, ergo, crappier video will save you an insignificant number of blocks on your HDD. You will write more blocks to your HDD by browsing the web then you will by downloading the video vs streaming it. For those who don't know, a block is the smallest amount of information that you can read/write from/to an HDD.

Eh. Personally on the issue of streaming or torrenting/DLing, mostly I'm just too lazy to find DDLs for things.
Quality isn't much of an issue regardless of what people say and with a few exceptions I'm willing to watch what I see when I see it regardless of quality, which is generally not too shabby. Ads are generally either nonexistent or entirely tolerable (e.g. megavideo's ads), and maximum view time rarely is an issue when new episodes come out in at maximum maybe groups of three, and usually there are mirrors of facebook or myspace players that don't have limits or ads.
Just in general there aren't that many advantages or disadvantages on either side in my opinion. Of course there are a handful of issues to streaming, maybe moreso than downloading but whatever.
It would be nice to have the option of DDLing more things though but I've never looked for a site for it unfortunately. Maybe I'll try to find one.

Who is this idiot that wrote that about streaming? Surely streaming lacks in quality and i personally don t prefer streaming but if it didn t exist and we had to save everything in our HD then we would need to format every month cause its not good for hard drives to write and delete files all the time, it makes them slow. So streaming is a good thing and whoever wrote that shit is the faggot and not people who like to streamI can't beleive that you actually think this. You do know that a copy of the video file you are streaming is saved locally on your hard drive, until erased later whenever the cache is deleted, causing the same type of "damage". You can't disregard a post if you think it's offensive furthermore, that just makes you a bigger retard for trying to make someones posts invalid just because they don't appeal to you.
You are wrong and you are the idiot for saying that. I know that a file is saved everytime you are streaming something but its size is by far too small to cause any damage to your hard drive. Go and stream 2000 videos your hard drive will be as good as new. You can t compare it to saving and deleting video files who cost you GB of space. And i m not trying to make his post invalid, it is invalid anyway, cause even if he was right which he isn t by insulting people who like to stream he himself becomes an invalid person

1TB externals, pre-built, are like $80 now. That's a day's wage, maybe a day a half, for low paying blue collar work.
Harddrive space is the cheapest and most available component in computing.

Why would your average streamed file be smaller than a "downloaded" one? That would be if either:
1. Bad codecs in the player you use for your torrented/DDL'ed
2. Worse quality in the streamed file
3. Codecs in the streaming sites video interface that by far supercede the codecs in your player in terms of mainly packaging and container.
Point being, everything is relative, so if what you are saying is true, the streamed videos would be the lesser choice anyhow, in terms of you being bad at choosing good codecs(*1), lesser overall streaming quality(*2) or you still being an idiot and the streaming sites having better and/or good codecs(*2∨*3).
To give a onesided but good example, Funimation had on their streaming services a quality that was at 120p (or 240p, can't remember), with a episode size of 700-1000 MB. As proof, feel free to make a thread on bakabt(that was boxtorrents at the time) or 4chan about it. The shit talk about streaming started from bad services like such, and led to many new people taking that as a fact for all the streaming services. Wich is ofcourse a false image, because streaming has the same capacity as ddl in practice, and is really competetive on sites like crunchyroll(Although I don't know to much on the matter). :)
And why care about the insults? Is that really a part of his argument? That's what I meant.

Uncensored means was licensed by a company in the United States of America, and is probably a still active license. This immediately leads to legal trouble for a site as large as Fakku in form of takedowns. Really, the one way to do it would be to make partnerships like Fakku did with Kitty Media (what happened with that, anyway?). Jacob had to close down the User Upload section for hentai anime because people were uploading licensed material. Even uploading these unlicensed and censored hentai is still copyright infringement, and the companies have every right to pursue legally; but they usually don't. Only Pixy/Black Lilith does it so aggressively because they're ultra-protective of all their game and anime products. That's why EroBeat has to see up a rigmarole to get to the downloads when do a Pixy release, for fear of take-down notices or worse. Hope this helps clears some things up.

This seems to be springing up on multiple websites, although not one is subbed. When the download finishes, I hope this is subbed.
EDIT: Not subbed, bugger. I can't follow what's going on because I don't understand Japanese. Pahah

Man I agree that most of the time streaming quality is by far worse than ddl or torrent. I didn t say that streaming is the better choice but it is a convenient choice, especially when you want to watch something new which you aren t sure you re gonna like. Me for example I download some movies or tv series i want to enjoy in high definition, but I always stream the random anime series I watch every day. And dude the streamed file which is saved in cache will always be by far smaller than a downloaded one no matter the quality or the length of the streamed video. It will be some bytes or KB most cause that file is not the video itself it just contains some info for the streamed file. Anyway I started this argument cause i was pissed with the guy who wrote that article and treated all guys who stream like idiots, as if he never streamed himself and i m surprised myself for getting angry about such a small matter as i usually don t pay any attention to those things. Anyway let s end this argument dude. After all we are perverted hentai brothers right? :)

Whatever I may be, I still beleive in constructive discussions. ;)
And I still have to disagree. Just to point it out, to you aswell as to many other people, it seems as if it is unclear to what streaming defines.
From Wikipedia:
Streaming media is multimedia that is constantly received by and presented to an end-user while being delivered by a streaming provider. The name refers to the delivery method of the medium rather than to the medium itself.
Wich means that the difference between streaming and downloading is only if it is opened on a interface provided by the streaming site or by one that you have installed. NOT, as mentioned in the bold wikipedia quote, anything else but the delivery method.
Also there doesn't exist any technology that I know of that plays video files that don't exist on your computer, wich would be your point.

Wow! I really love this kind of arguments... ^_^ Even though some of it, well I just don't understand but hey!,that's not the issue here. Sharing one's opinion is a best way to understand each other right? So would anyone mind if I share mine? Well, Streaming and Downloading.., I really like them both(having an awesome PC that is.. ^^).
Ok, not knowing there ups and down, I have constantly doing those two whenever I sit in front of my PC. Kinda like a hobby or something. ^^, So anyway, why do I stream? Well you see, I'm a fan of Naruto, Onepiece and Bleach(hardcore fan). So can you imagine.. Even if I find a decent site to DL., that's still a lot of episodes to download!, right? Streaming would be the best choice, for me that is. Next question, why do I download? Well duh, for the movies!! I got lots of movie collections that I find really interesting specially porn and hentai movies.. (Tee..Hee..) You can even sell it! well not me of course. And all of it came from downloads..
So there you have it! Streaming and Downloading have there on benefits to share, even not knowing there ups and down. And for the idiot part, well you could say that everyone has there idiot side somewhere in there perverted mind, I guess..
Anyway... I love the hentai movies here in Fakku. Fakku your the best!. ^_^ More power and may the Hentai force be always with you!(thumbs up!)
