I've lost 25 lbs, HAH! That's through working out/excercising and controlling my diet with appetite suppressant pills and cutting down calories and increasing lean protein. I started doing this around mid August. Goal is to lose a total of 40 lbs before the spring semester. (And hopefully another 10-20lbs at this rate.)

It's the only way to actually and permanently lose weight without an astounding degree of self-control.

You both are half right, it's not how much you eat its what you eat.
g-money is right about working out and eating lean protean, and blind_assassin is right about being reliant on appetite suppressant pills not being good.
This is what I do:
Eating habits:
A Hand full of Granola and a banana for breakfast around 8am
11 am I have a light snack usually more granola
Late lunch normally around 2 and that's normally a 6" subway sandwich
Dinner at seven
small snack at 9
Exercising habits:
Go to the gym once a week and spend 30 minute's on a treadmill and 15 on a low impact jogging machine. then 15 more on a treadmill
I counter balance that with an hour Wii Sports Tennis every other day.
Save work and that I'm pretty much a lazy bastard.

I feel proud of myself, and I'm sure Angelus Lapsus is too. I know that the pills aren't the most healthiest option, but it's either that or face constant hunger 24/7 until I get my body down to a more manageable weight. Until this summer, I weighed 240 lbs due a host of factors (asthma, rehabilitated right shoulder, right ankle, and left knee, and slow metabolism is also making it hard for me to lose weight fast... being the reasons I was fat in the first place.), but I decided enough was enough, I've had it with this motherfucking fat on my motherfucking weight. Signed up at the local gym (WoW gym - good deals there!) and worked out 3 times a week for around 2 hours, more on Saturday. Right now I'm on a hiatus since last week I came down with the sinus, my cousins came over, and finals and tests are around the corner, I haven't gone to the gym, so I just excercise at home to keep shape... so my current weight is 213.8 lbs when it was 212 lbs before the sinusitis struck. I find that there is a big difference between not eating a pill and eating a pill - I find myself hard to stop eating without the pill. Of course, when I get down to a slimmer weight such as 180 lbs, I'll step off the pills because it's a only a stretch to get down to 160 lbs, my ideal weight according to my height and frame. (the range was actually 154-170, but 160 is a goal to shoot for.
For those who are losing weight, be proud of yourselves and persevere! It's all worth it. Share any tales of weight loss here if anyone cares.
@Angelus Lapsus: As a suggestion (so don't take this the wrong way), I would cut the light snack from the morning - kinda seems unecessary. As for lunch, my gripe with a subway sandwich is a) even for a 6", that's a lot of calories because of the bread and depending on the bread type, so whole wheat/herbs would be a wiser choice, b) cheese and the meats can be cut down, and remember that not only eating too much of them is bad for the heart, they're packaged food, so they have other stuff in there that really isn't healthy for the body, c) try to elimate the sauces from the sub as well, including mayo - fattening stuff, d) if you get a drink, get water. The other drink I recommend is tea, and not that shit you find packaged or bottled but real tea. It's real healthy for the body, and try to stay away from coffee as much as possible unless you're in dire need of caffeine. I also spot a night snack - as long it's before 10PM you're fine. Preferably, fruit should be an ideal snack, and you get your vitamin C that way.

"Eat less; Move more" is just a simple catchphrase to sum up the complexities of effectively losing weight. It's also to convey that neither exercise or dieting alone aren't effective. A proper diet is capable of getting you into a healthy weight if you're already at that weight and have the willpower to not deviate from your program and to update it as needed when your metabolism and lifestyle changes.

you know its really hard to cut down what u eat...especially for me who is very..very picky about what i eat(like i cant eat veggies..Sept for like pees)and cutting down how much i eat is even harder cuz i used 2 be able 2 eat like 3 servings no problem but i cut that down to 1 maybe 1 and a half and im still starving 2 hours later(but of course i tend 2 eat like an apple at that time)but yea for some ppl its ridiculously hard 2 stop...

They say that the urge to eat a lot is a disorder that fat people have on top of slow metabolism. Not only the body digests the food too slow, it gets additional signals from the brain that says you're hungry even though you ate an hour or two ago. I have something a bit similar to that, and the pills aren't 100% effective... I occasionally get the urge to eat more even on the pill.

As I said it's not how much you eat it's what you eat. You can eat fruits and veggies all day and night, and chances are you would not hit your max daily calorie intake. To maintain my weight as where it stands with little to no physical activity I would have to consume 3400 calories per day, my favorite fruit is bananas, and I prefer medium bananas(7in-7 7/8in long) they have about 105 calories per banana(Bananas are high calorie for a fruit) I would have to eat roughly 16 pounds of bananas in a day just to get my daily max calories. My daily calorie intake is roughly 1900 at best. As for what I eat I eat a lot of fiber(Granola/whole grains) so it passes through my system rather quickly. My dinner is my worst meal because I rarely cook. So that's normally about 700 calories right there. so on average I'm eating between 1900 and 2100 calories per day, factor in physical activity. I'm eating for a person half my weight.
I rarely drink coffee, I brew green tea by the cup. And my 6in sub from subway is as follows: Turkey breast on Honey Oat w/ onions and green peppers, no cheese, or sauce.
If you were to come to my house, and look at the snacks that I keep in my bedroom(Where I stay for the most part when I'm home), dry roasted slivered almonds, a can of dry roasted Wasabi Peas, and no sugar added applesauce. I also keep a electric kettle to make green tea.
