I don't get it.... What's the point of the game?

This game is rather unusual in that the main attraction isn't the game itself, but the story behind it. The story is revealed through a photo in the game folder, text files that show up in the game folder for getting certain scores, and endings that happen when you get a certain score. You should check photo.jpg pretty often. When you first start playing, you should check it after every game for the first 5-10 games. After that, just check it after each new ending.

I'll list the scores for unlocking stuff here. I'm pretty trash at this game, so some of it won't be 100% accurate. It should give you a general idea of what to aim for and what to expect though.

First 5 playthroughs: All of the CGs in album mode. Reading the text for the CGs in album mode will unlock some text files.
Score at least 10k: Get an ending. I don't believe there's a text file for this.
Score at least 20k: Get another ending. You also get a text file. It should be noted that if you get over 20k before getting the ending for 10k, you won't get the 10k ending. So you'll have to lose on purpose if you want that.
Score at least 40k: Unlock Metsu mode. I think there's a text file for this too as well as a change in photo.jpg. To access Metsu mode, click the cat icon on the bottom right corner of the title screen.
Score at least 100k: New picture and maybe a text file added to the game folder.

Metsu mode unlockables:

If you score over 10k(?) for 6 runs, you will unlock 6 notes which can be read from the Metsu title screen.
If you score over 50k(?) after unlocking the six notes, you will get an ending and a text file.
If you reach level 100, you will get a text file and a nice surprise.

So.... how do you lose?

If your life bar decreases to zero. It can be found on the bottom center of the game screen. By the way, Irisu kinda looks like Reisen for some reason.
