You're and Your

A post that was just made has inspired me to help some of you out. When you come up to a moment where you want to use the word your/'re ask yourself one question: Can I use you are instead? If you can, then you're is appropriate. ex: You are an idiot turns into you're an idiot. Your on the other hand is possessive, so it generally refers to something you own or are associated with. ex: Your mother is a whore.

Hopefully that helps some of you, and while I don't think spelling is that important on the internet it is one of the few things people use to judge your intelligence in a short amount of time.

Proper use of the apostrophe seems to be too confusing for most people. You know this is true when people repeatedly follow different rules when using them. E.g. using it to make some words "plural" and omitting it in other plural forms in the same sentence. We should just stop using them and figure something else out.

I think one should try to be clear and "understandable" but I hate people who nitpick at spelling errors when in disagreement.

Probably why they do it, I know I've use it to infuriate a few people in the past.

It's a tactic comparable to ad-hominem in most cases. But if someone makes constant errors and makes no attempt to fix them and make sense they're probably not worth the time.

Surely you wouldn't fault a man for picking on the less intelligent? Otherwise they would vastly outnumber the people I can tolerate in IB. It's almost a service I provide tbh...
