Can it really be called self help? If they had to read another person's advice then they aren't really helping themselves.

self help books give you the information to accomplish something on your own instead of having someone else do it for you, its also a term to indicate that the reader is learning thus helping himself become a better person.

better at whatever it is they wanted to learn about (not morally)morals can't be learned in a book.
