Yup that's right, I've been wondering too about the similarities, well Filipino's Tagalog was originally derived from Indonesian Borneo's tribe "Dayak" I guess, that's what my teacher said to me.

There's a research about it about geo-location does have a link with languages issue, like some part of country has a similar words and it's meaning in other country. That interest me for a while, gonna search for it again haha.
