That is because AXL has scrub tier tactics of Zoning that players can't deal with right now because of the slight learning curve. (Still not as bad as zoning characters from other games).
I'm not saying zoning is a scrub tactic, but Axl has this stupid stance that hits high and low in a pattern from far away. It looks like you can actually hit his chain though while it is out and counter-hit him.
There are too many BB players looking at Xrd now and trying too hard for everyone to hear their scrub whine about how bursts are useless and how characters are instantly broken on day1. Whoever bitches about Axls stance has never, ever laid a finger on Accent Core, and is completely oblivious to some characters like Zappa in AC+R. People who are obviously new to the franchise should lay the fuck low and be less irritating.
Someone else saw Axl's stance has a hitbox on it as well. He was getting counter-hit by Ky's projectiles all in the stream videos.
The only reason people were screaming broken was because people unfamiliar to the game were playing on the stream, basically people that:
a) Couldn't figure out how to Air-dash
b) held forward the whole time and mashed.
So, they cried broken.
Every pre-fighting game release people call out tiers and broken before the game has matured and that happens in all the fighting game communities. I blame this on the ability to patch games. Everyone wants the game developers standing by with the Nerf-bat in hand now.
I played MvC2 in the arcades with a bunch of people and that that fucking game had Guard-Breaks, invincible assists, infinites and we still put a quarter into that machine everyday we were there. We had a GGXX Midnight Carnival cabinet there too. One guy got so pissed off at Sol-Players he unplugged the machine. We didn't have patches; we had to deal with what we got. People are kinda spoiled by patches now.
I really miss that arcade, there are no more around my area.
