I'm in the Air Force right now, but I do have quite the few friends that are in the Army. If you have any questions at all, especially about going through MEPS, Boot Camp, or just the Enlisted side in general, hit me up via PM.

Questions I have for you is :

What MOS are you trying to get? Infantry? Comm? Linguist?

What are your goals when you get in? Finish off College? Making this a career? Or just doing your 4-6 years, and be done with it?

From what it sounds like, you kinda ran into the same situation that I've gone through before joining.

Just a heads-up, there's a saying in the military :

"The military is not just another job, it's a life-style."

Military was a hard choice, but I don't regret it one bit. It built a lot for me that I've never thought I had in me, as well as making me see things in different lights.

But my 2 cents, in all honesty-- join the Air Force.

Join usssssss.

I can tell you all about the differences from watching some stuff first-hand.

I go down on monday to finish my asvab/physical and get sworn in.

The job I have locked down atm is Human Resources Specialist.

I'll go on April 15th for basic training. 9 weeks BT, 9 weeks AIT.

So I'll be gone for just under 5 months.

Congratz.

Couple things about basic that I heard from my staff sergeant.
- Never slack on up keeping your locker. Always keep your blues serviceable and ready to go.

- Learn to be good at something whether is polishing shoes or folding underwear.

- It's ok to cry, just do it at church or in your bed.

Not looking forward to the five months of celibacy.

Hope you have some money saved or have a good job. Doubt you can both live with a pvt salary of 1250/month after sam the tax man takes a chunk. Fuck i was paid 905 a month when i was a e-2... but i had a rack and three hots of liquid Dysentery for free and no kids/1 dependent.

I work.

A lot.

We'll make due, we're able to stretch our meek income.

I start out as an E-4 for 2000 a month plus around a 1k living expenses and the standard 300 or so food budget.

^ I doubt the US would start a war with Russia, or that Russia would start a war with the US. Unless its a nuclear one. Then we are all fucked.
