Guilty Gear Xrd

I may only have heard the gist of Sin's origins from Guilty Gear Overture, but I still find it hard to believe that Ky of all people actually got dirty with Dizzy. Well, stranger things have happened in Guilty Gear before storywise, soooo...

In any case, seeing how Sin will play will be interesting indeed. Still hoping for Jam and Baiken though.

Bumping this thread with the new PV video that shows all what we can expect from Xrd's release. I hope my body can handle all this hype next month.

Any good places to help me learn character specific stuff? I know the basis of GG's mechanics, but I would really like to know how to play certain characters.

Dustloop.com used to be the place I usually go to for these types of things, but nowadays, the boards seem very empty. I'm pretty sure with the new game coming out soon, there will be and influx of new and returning players going back there, but as of right now, there's not enough info for me to try to grasp character specs. That, and I personally don't trust SRK.com on GG/BB/Air Dasher FGs as much as I used to.

Dustloop's AC+R threads have been dead for awhile. Your best bet is to look up some matches/combos on Youtube

Feel free to come to me with very specific character questions. I should be able to go into detail on most matchups as well. In here, PM, or give me your skype to add.

Also not sure if anyone has heard, but the PS4 version got a demo and it's up until December 9th I think. Sol and Ky are playable and you get Arcade mode on Beginnier difficulty, challenge mode and no 2P matches.

Good news: the demo has English voices.
Bad news: The people they picked do a piss poor job. Sol is probably the biggest offender, they got someone who tries to be Steve Blum and is alright sometimes, but most of the time he tries WAY too hard to be him. Even when he does his Destroyer he lacks the energy.

Sam Riegel is voicing Ky and OH MAN THAT IS PERFECT CAUSE FLYNN IS BASICALLY HIM. He doesn't really make Ky sound old enough and he's...mid-late 30's in Xrd? Somewhere around there.

The only one who does a fantastic job is Liam O Brien's Axl. No complaints, cockney accent and he's got the attitude down pat. I might even pick him up for fun.

Those are the only three noteworthy ones. Zato, Millia, and Faust are pretty good, Erin Fitzgerald is Ramlethal and she's...eh. I think I'll go JP dub only for this and I never would've thought about it for Blazblue or the two Persona 4 Arena games(ChronoPhantasma's ENG VA's were amazing). I'm just more annoyed that GG got handed VA's that do a meh job at delivering the characters.

Really like the learn May and her match-ups. I've played Milla for a bit in GGAC+ and she seems good in Xrd, but I would also look into re-learning the game with a new character.

I don't even acknowledge the english voice actors for Guilty Gear. Daisuke himself used to voice Sol and for Xrd we still get Nakata. You complaining about some english dub being bad?



Well that's more like a statement than a question! You know what to expect? Picking Millia is my usual recommendation for new players that just aim for a female character as she's relatively easy and guaranteed to always be strong (Now with Xrd I believe she's actually the strongest character in GG history in terms of average tierlist placements. Jam rivals her but is not in the game yet.). May had her ups and downs, but the majority of good matchups disappeared with the AC to Xrd transition. Baiken, Dizzy, Bridget, Jam were all fantastic for May (Which played into her popularity, everyone hates playing against Baiken but she was Mays best matchup.) but none of these are in the game while all her comparatively "bad" matchups (Slayer, Venom, Eddie, Potemkin, Millia) are present. Naturally May does not stand as strong in relation to the current cast.

Still a better game than UMvC3, as much as I love that thing to death, I can't deny that's easily the most BS fighter I've played in recent memory.

I finished up Story mode and unlocked Sin last night so time to start labbing the father/son duo. I might pick up both of the Valentines(Ram as sub, Elphelt for kicks cause waifu material)

Almost anything's better than Marvel at this point since it's near the point of death anyway, yet people still try to find new tech to keep it alive.

As disappointed as I am we won't be getting favorites like Jam, Baiken, Anji, Zappa, Bridget and so on, I'm still looking forward to at least maining May and out of respect for the recent passing of his seiyuu some months ago, Slayer, when this game comes out.

And hopefully the PS3 port will play just as smoothly as the PS4 version, or else the PS3 users may have to downgrade visual settings a bit for it to run right. Hope this won't be a major issue.

Baiken and Anji are rumored to be confirmed for the next game or DLC in the 2nd Ending of Story mode.

PS3 Version plays at 60fps. That's good enough for me.

If the fact we'll be getting the old characters as DLC just for this game, I'll be okay with that as long they come at a decent price range so I can at least add several to the roster that currently exists. As for 60fps on PS3 version, then I'm already sold.

I put hundreds of hours into Marvel, only to quit because I told myself. If "Evo 2014's top 64 has more than 10 Zeroes, I'll quit"

I don't regret it, I love the game, but fuck the balancing, and fuck Marvel for cutting Capcom off. Marvel tried making their own fighting game, and it looks horrible, it also got scrapped and is now being limited to the iOS.

This video is basically why Capcom couldn't update Marvel anymore.

Marvel does have one frame throws but at least you could tech them expect for Vergil's because it could be OS to Stinger if you try to tech.

And lots of people online do wake up throw because it's one frame and untechable, you wouldn't believe how many have done it.

Anyway I've labbed Ky and Sin is alot of fun since his moves can cancel into each other. Working on Ramlethal at the moment, her DP has a just frame a-la EWGF/EWGF in Tekken and that's pretty damn cool. Her combos are pretty much Tekken juggles too.


I might pick her or Elphelt up as my sub cause strawberry gun toting waifu. Her Respect has her dreaming of going Super Saiyan and it's great.

As a zero player I can't hear your marvel rants over the sounds of complete single player.

Xrd is amazing, just the netcode kinda sucks. Lobby system is great though.

Zero is dabess and he made (U)MvC3/TvC/SvC Chaos worth playing.

Also apparently Gamestop decided to release Xrd one week early, so go nuts guys. The digital version isn't out until the 16th and the LE is supposed to be out on the 23rd but apparently Amazon says it wont be out until next week, we'll just have to wait and see

I'm kicking myself right now for not living in the US to get this early, but considering the Christmas rush, I think I'll wait for the LE to come out to snag it, or just settle with the retail version if it becomes available.
