Why isn't Fakku free anymore?

To tell you the truth. I could care less if Fakku becomes a subscription based site. I mean I had a subscription for crying out loud. It took me over an hour to read all these replies and I have to admit, the Fakku loyalists have extremely valid points. I feel kinda bad about instigating this mob, but that's just what I do. Like I've said before I used to have a subscription and my book library consists of at least 10 books, so I have no problems with these changes. I do have a question though. Will people still be allowed to submit their work to a free segment of the site or will it be put behind the pay wall to help said authors?

If you are referring to scanlations, I'm almost positive no as Scanlations are no longer allowed here due to the partnership with Wani. If a content provider (as in the original author) wishes to post stuff, we still have that one Kill La Kill doujinshi somewhere on the website, since the actual author posted it here.

EDIT: https://www.fakku.net/doujinshi/threadless-english that's the work, it was by the author thus it stayed.

If they own the rights to it and wish it to be free, sure. We already have that with the Doxy releases.

The creators of this site should have initially created this site with a yearly fee for any membership in it or to access it, thus being able to pay their translators and typesetters through contracts based on membership quotas and chapter output rates.

This would be extremely unsustainable since each chapter costs around $20 to translate and edit. Not to mention that it's illegal to start a subscription program with content you don't own. (This all started from a takedown notice from Wani Magazine)

My questions to Jacob is this: Sir, why 12.95? Is 5.00 or 10.00 a month too low? Why not a membership tier system? Did you run a focus group for your business plan?

It's 12.95 because of fees that the billing company issues. It was originally meant to be 10.00 a month but the company who processes payments take ~3.00 per transaction. And what would you even do for a membership tier? Restrict access to certain magazines? That would make the subscription look even less desirable.

I am here on Fakku mainly for the forums and the community members. I have enjoyed reading a little of what the community has to say. I may not agree with the subscription option, but I didn't create this site and I don't have the vested interest that they do. Good on you for making the choice you did, but please don't deny anyone an access to the community forum in the future via a subscription plan. Thank you for your time.

Jacob has already stated multiple times that the forums will not be sub only. Books and Sub forums can only be posted on by people who have made a purchase for obvious reasons.

for people complaining 13$ is too high. you total cheapskates, free porn is everywhere. but here, it's UNCENSORED, ORIGINAL HENTAI MANGA. yeah there are no doujins, but we can probably ask Jacob to work something out.

I mean fuck. from US standpoint, that is basically two fucking hours in minimum wage. you cant pay for that, then you shouldn't even have time for fapping.

coming from a country with a minimum wage of 2$ per hour, and I can still afford this, you guys are totally pathetic if you call it "too expensive"

you guys say "priorities"? then stop looking for a fapping material and actually work your life out first.

13 fucking USD too expensive.... damn... only kids and homeless (without internet) can complain of that price.

you guys may have pride to be pirates, but I really think you guys don't deserve porn if you cant pay for it when the authors work hard to sell these things. maybe people should also start stealing from you guys as well to know how it feels.

this will benefit the community. If you wanna continue to be a pirate and not actually support the industry at all, then great, leave and fuck off. We don't need you here.

DRMed up the ass online only content is beneficial for the community?

This ain't an MMO chief, a DRM requirement is completely unnecessary and anti-consumer.

It's actually disgusting how you think this is in any way a GOOD thing. Like, how delusional are you that you'll eat the shit they give you and then smile and say MMMMM YES MASSUH DATS SUM TASTY TREATS.

Min is 10$ here, 1.5 hours or one cheap pizza or 2 venti lattes with whipped barista jizz and a scone. 50 cents a day for a month.

lol, DRM is fine. it prevents damn pirates from paying for one person the sharing the whole damn thing somewhere else for free.

I wanna protect the authors who makes dreams come true from cheapskates who leech off like they deserve everything in the internet is free. if DRM makes it possible, i'm for it.

You know, FAKKU sells books too, and they all come with DRM-free downloads. Later this year there will likely be an option for buying individual magazines (full issues, not single chapters) too that would also come with similar DRM-free downloads.

I am thinking about going to the grocery store tomorrow and asking for an 8oz rib eye. If they decide to charge me, I will simply accuse them of being greedy corporate jerks.

I hope it all works out.

Digital infinitely and freely reproducible content = limited quantity physical product.

Amazing.

still doesn't justify security of the authors so that leechers don't get what they don't deserve

What does this really justify though? If publishers say no more digital anything, because it gets abused, people are going to complain. In fact it's a benefit to the consumer (accessibility, features) that digital exists in the first place. Piracy just happens to be a convenient side effect for some people. Just because something is easily reproduced doesn't mean it doesn't have any intrinsic value.

Just because it's digital doesn't make the product any less real. The artists who create all these comics need to pay for rent and food just like the farmer who raised that cow had to. Then you'be got to pay the transporter, the butcher, etc. Welcome to the world of Capitalism.

If Digital content has value, where is the secondhand market for it?

If it has value, why is it instantly worthless the millisecond that I purchase it?

When I get banned and account deleted, where is the $20 worth of digital content I bought?

Oh right. It doesn't exist, because it has no value. It's totally ephemeral and temporary.

False. If there was no value then anyone could create the original thing. Just the same way that anyone can produce a copy of a famous piece of artwork. If there was no value there would be zero demand for it. But this isn't true. The fact that everyone is losing their shit is evidence that there is quite a bit of demand.

>If it has value, why is it instantly worthless the millisecond that I purchase it?
Also false. If you have $100 worth of digital books on your account, there's probably at least one guy out there who would give you at least $20 for your account credentials.

>When I get banned and account deleted, where is the $20 worth of digital content I bought?
Well then I hope you downloaded it when you had the right to.

>It's totally ephemeral and temporary.
So is your life. In the end all of this is just petty squabbles that don't make the slightest difference in our 46 billion light years (across) of universe. I still don't know what you're trying to argue. If there is no value in any of this to you then why are you even here? You would have made the smarter decision to move on and do something more meaningful to you.

There is no "original thing" in the land of digital content. Scarcity influences value, and digital content is infinite. It has no value because it's more common than grains of sand.

Fakku isn't selling accounts, it's selling digital books. For $10 you buy a digital copy of a book, which there is no market for because it is worthless. Would you buy Shoujo Material from me for 25 cents? No, you wouldn't, because the content itself is worthless. You pay $10 for the convenience of accessing the digital content from any location and device, not for the content itself.

ChrisBRosado123 wrote...

This doesn't address the argument.

This doesn't pertain to the topic.

Seond hand market? For digital translated magazine porn? Lol that is one sick idea. Do collectors even buy second hand digital content? Maybe if it was illegally advertized.

Banned? You plan to get banned? Lol, that means you already are palanning to cheat fakku off. Why get banned in the first place and lose your digital content. Unofficial sharing of paid content?

Holes in your argument only promote illegally sharing of products that are meant to be paid and used personally. Have some pride at least and admit you plan to get stuff in fakku to illegally distribute.
