The problem with that statement is that when you say "they", you're implying "all". I could just as well say white people are to blame for reinforcing the stereotype that they are the ones more likely to do mass shootings, kill their children because god told them to or create weapons of mass destruction.

You know I agree with you in theory the problem is that this is not portraying a stereotype of black people but a certain segment of black people that even black people don't want to be portrayed by. None of those are common stereotypes. Only people I've seen spout that kind of stuff were really ignorant people. Especially BLM members who are racist anyway. They try to force a stereotype that doesn't even exist and the only ones that act like it's a thing is them.

Stereotypes exist for a reason. Our brains are made to see patterns. If the pattern is seen often enough it becomes a stereotype. And negative stereotypes exist as a defense mechanism. Acting like it's inherently wrong to stereotype/ profile is a really idiotic thing to do. Oh, you're gonna ignore a stereotype because it's offensive, even though it might be a matter of life and death? The fact that idiots in modern society think like this is one of our many problems. You're basically telling people to deny their survival instincts in the name of feelings. It's idiotic.

And furthermore, those "Stereotypes" you listed are extremely out there.

First of all:

1. Majority of "mass shooting" are done by the black community. We call it gang violence. Which actually happens way more often and ends with way more fatalities, it's just that one side gets more coverage. Why? To create a false/ forced stereotype. Yes, one is done by a organization but it's still a "mass shooting" since multiple people are getting shot.

And even if we changed it to what most people consider a "mass shooting" which is when some random guy goes out and shoots people. (which isn't even a defined term.) That "stereotype" you mentioned would still be wrong. Since many of them are done by other races as well. It's just that, when the shooter is white, people make a big deal about it.

2. I've never heard of "white people kill their children" thing before, so I'm pretty sure you just made that one up. I HAVE heard the "single mothers kill their children" or "black kid's don't know their fathers" stereotypes but never what you just wrote.

3. And weapons of mass destruction? Do you really think that no one else makes weapons? That's not even a stereotype. That's just a really dumb statement.

With stereotypes, they have to have a basic be true on some level/ in some circumstances. Just spouting random opinions isn't in itself a stereotype.

Like:

Blacks don't know how to swim. (didn't even know about this one until I was a teen. My best friend taught me about it. Who happened to be black).

Filipinos eat dog.

Hawaiians like spam.

etc. etc.

each stereotype has a basis for existing. They're not always true. No one says that they are. However, they exist because they are true sometimes, hence creating a basis and a reason for being. Like the ones I listed above.

1. Because majority of the black community lives in the landlocked south or in cities, they don't get the chance to swim for the most part. Hence why many can't swim. (or at least that's the case wherever the stereotype originated.)

2. Asians cultures literally breed dogs to eat. My own grandma used to eat dog because she lived in the Philippines in poverty.

3. A lot of people here eat spam because it's cheap and affordable.

There was no problem with my original statement. The problem is with you taking offense to it.

If you don't want a negative stereotype to exist. DON'T ENFORCE IT. If you're so god damn offended by it, why the fuck would you prove people right. You are a human, you have free will. So you assumed my opinion all on your own? Whether or not I agree with stereotypes is irrelevant. No one says they're always true or that they represent everyone. Stereotypes describe the people they are about. Simple as that. To assume it means everyone is your own business. Stereotypes don't stop existing just because you're offended by it. The problem is that some people treat these stereotypes as the truth, when in reality, all stereotypes do is cloud one's judgement.

I'll chalk that up to cultural dissonance. I've been around black family members, friends, acquaintances and strangers. Whenever a story about a highly religious white woman killing their child comes up, the same statement comes out of their mouth. "Only a white person would do that". Just because you've never heard of the stereotype, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It just means you never heard of it. But guess what? Now you have heard of it.

That's why stereotypes are bad dumbass. People make a big deal out of actions that are done by everyone of all races, genders, etc. Just because an action is known to be done more by one group of people doesn't give anyone the right to condemn the whole group. Also you seem to be implying that a stereotype isn't a stereotype if it is done by other groups of people. The problem is that all actions have been done by a particular group of people. Which makes your argument invalid. I could be wrong on this assessment though, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Again, just because other groups use wmds doesn't make the stereotype that whites are more likely to use them invalid. In fact, looking at the track record, whites were the first to develop and use them.

I didn't assume your character offhand, but I did misunderstand what you were saying due to it being vague. And stereotyping basically puts a group of people in a category based on a behavioral pattern done by said group. When you said it's their fault for reinforcing the stereotype, you obviously weren't talking about looters in general. I originally thought you were talking about blacks in general. Instead, you were talking about blacks who loot. However, whether you're talking about a whole group of people or a particular group within that group, you're still singling them out from all the other races who also loot. That's racial bias anyway you slice it.
