2011 Big Ten Bowl performance

I'm a student at the University of Michigan and my team was sodomized by Mississippi State University today, 52-14. I'm ashamed to say I couldn't finish watching the game.
In related news, Michigan State was molested, violated, and thrown away by Alabama 49-7. Penn State lost to Florida. Northwestern lost to Texas Tech. Wisconsin lost to TCU and scored 19 points. This was the big ten's greatest offense in history in terms of points per game. Wisconsin wasted their second half timeouts and failed to prevent a first down when they might have gotten the ball back with about forty seconds left.
Only Iowa has won its bowl game, and although that was against a highly rated team (no.12 Missouri), Iowa was a heavy underachiever this season after returning just about ever starter on both offense and defense with pro prospects all over the place.
Ohio State is almost guaranteed to lose to Arkansas because Ohio State only knows how to lose against SEC teams in a BCS bowl game.
For years I have hated the fact that the Big Ten was considered one of the weaker Big 6 football conferences. However, this year has validated all of those naysayers. All I have to say is...THANK GOD NEBRASKA IS JOINING.

Washington beat Nebraska. Let's see how Stanford and Oregon do. Pac-10 is always underrated, but every year, they do very well in Bowl Games.

Big Ten did not do good at all. Although, I am a Gator Fan so I'm happy. I'm pissed though that it didnt have a chance to see the game. I hope Oregon destorys Auburn.

The Big 10 just wasn't particularly good this year. I was surprised that Wisconsin lost to TCU, but TCU was a team where nobody really knew whether they were really good or not because they didn't play anyone good on their schedule. I still think, Bowl results aside, that Boise is probably better than TCU and would win if they played, but thanks to the way College Football works, we won't find out.
Neither Penn State nor Michigan were any good this year, and I suspect Ohio State is overrated and will lose. Plus, the perpetually overrated SEC was particularly good this year and lived up to its reputation, so some tough competition.
Still, the Big East is awful this year(someone should make a rule that if no team from an auto-qualify conference can be ranked in the top 15 or lose fewer than 4 games or something like that, that conference loses their bid and it goes to the next best at-large team, because the Big East was a disgrace this year and no one wants to see Uconn get pounded by Oklahoma in an uncompetitive game)) and VTech won the ACC after losing to a cupcake on their schedule, so those are clearly the weakest conferences this year. It is mainly the SEC, which is having a good year, and the PAC-10, which has Stanford and Oregon, that are doing better than normal.
People place too much importance on a bowl game or two in saying that X conference is better than Y conference. Single games are pretty random. I don't think the Giants would have won a best of 7 series with the 18-0 Patriots that year, but they won a single game thanks to some amazing plays. You have to look at things over a season or a few seasons. The Big 10 is having a weak year, but generally it is one of the better conferences in NCAA football. Of course, ever since Ohio State lost those two title games(and the second one they only even got to because like 3 teams screwed up near the end of the season) everyone seems to think the Big 10 is bad. Unfortunately, reputation matters in college football since it is the only sports league I know in which human voters decide who should play for the title, and many of the voters are idiots.

Boise should had played Oklahoma again instead UCONN got in and just barley hung in. Such a crappy selection of teams in the bowl games. Boise beat the shit out of Utah 37-3.

Notice how so many southern teams crush Northern teams >:)
LSU vs TAMU is going to be fun. I went to LSU for two years so I'm definitely rooting for them.

Now that OSU beat Arkansas, we know definitively that the Big 10 is better than the SEC. As everyone knows, the most recent game determines all truth. /sarcasm
But seriously, bowl games are such a small sample size that the results are unpredictable, unlike a 7 game series in the NBA. The Big 10, Pac 10, SEC, and Big 12 have all had years where they were probably the best conference overall in recent memory.

I woke up early on my dad off to watch LSU vs TAMU. LSU better be wining at half-time or I'm going back to sleep...
