27 States Want to Secede

We (they) want out.
I find it rather retarded that these people think they can just start up their own nation. For one the monetary system would be in shambles and two they would not have any allies. More time spent on useless bills.

Just a waste of time. If it were to be passed, then they'd be screwed because they're an even newer country and completely split apart from each other. They'd have tons of other troubles as well. I highly doubt many of them have thought of this past "I don't want to be part of the United States, so let's make our own country!"

two they would not have any allies.
[color=#2e1a6b]I think this is a good thing, we wouldn't have to fight a war for another country.
Unfortunately, this petition really doesn't mean anything, even though we got over 25,000 signatures. It gets to "reach the attention of the President", but nothing more

This is nothing new since some states have always wanted to secede and this means nothing. Also the last state that tried to secede pre Civil War was South Carolina, which was intimidated into submission by Andrew Jackson.

Reading the article it says, that they have over a 1000 sigs on a petition. I'm pretty sure that there are people who want to leave anyways, even after the election. So those demands are ignorable.
Texas though having 40k sigs, is a eyebrow raiser but still not enough of a concern, with a total pop of 25mill.

The scientific term for this is 'blowing hot air'.Don't forget temper tantrums. Red states are stomping their feet and crying because they have to go another 4 years with a president that is doing the exact same thing they'd be doing. Plus or minus a couple social issues.

This is really what it is. Texas went through this exact same talk when Obama was elected 4 years ago. Just talk and anger. Half of what most Texans reasons for wanting to secede, especially older couples, is just ridiculous.

I'd almost say let them, but I'd feel bad for the sane people in these states.

"Peaceful secession from the union", that is impossible, Remember the civil war?
If you want to secede, there will be war.
I live in one of the states that wants to do this, and I think secession is treasonous.

the whole thing makes me think of a child threatening to hold their breath until they get their way.
that would be hilarious. they probably wouldn't know what to do then.
i say charge every signitor with treason. the penalty could be deportation.

My opinion is if you don't want to be a part of the United States, then move out of the United States. New York is surprisingly on the list, and I'm guessing the majority of signatures come from upstate.
This'll blow over, and the signers are going to feel very, very foolish.

I don't know man, there have already been suicides.
But yeah, this isn't going to go anywhere.

This actually isn't anything new as many Southern States are always talking about seceding. However this is truthfully the first time it has gotten so serious again. It's always been sad to me that people feel that they need to fight their ancestors battles.

Secession is treasonous.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

The idea is ludicrous and incredibly short-sighted but luckily, like most panics, this will blow over.

To counter this nonsense, a few petitions have sprung up to have those that signed the ones in question deported.
