3D Movies! The Future of Entertainment?
In your humble opinion, which of the following sounds like the worst idea for a 3D release?

3D, the next step in cinematic emersion, or a headache inducing sideshow?
Opinion remains divided if this technology has any real credibility over the long run in this technological age. Now as 3D TV's begin to flood the market as the next biggest thing in home entertainment, filmmakers are being forced to consider filming their movies in 3D to meet the supposed demand. While some directors, such as Christopher Nolan and Jon Favreau, have firmly refused to make the change to 3D, most big budget films will be converted to 3D in post production, if not filmed in 3D to start with. Here is a list of the scheduled movies for 3D release between now and 2012:

"After Toy Story, there were 10 really bad CG movies because everybody thought the success of that film was CG and not great characters that were beautifully designed and heart warming. Now, you've got people quickly converting movies from 2D to 3D, which is not what we did. They're expecting the same result, when in fact they will probably work against the adoption of 3D because they'll be putting out an inferior product."
- James Cameron
Well, like it or not, 3D is still going to see wide-spread, big box office releases, at least for another few years.
So I ask you, what, if any, of these are you looking forward to?
Do you believe 3D films can be good if they are shot that way as James Cameron said?
What do you think is the future of 3D cinema in general?
Do YOU have a 3D TV? I don't, there are no 3D movies available, at least over here in Australia.
Also some of those movies are just plain ridiculous for 3D. Vote for which you think is most ridiculous!

3D movies only seem to be good for the novelty. They tend to make campy horror movies like Pirhana 3D pretty entertaining.
Also, any 3D movie from Hustler with XXX in the title is bound to be awesome.

I've actually got a 3D tv, and it's pretty awesome. I'm not exactly a big fan of 3D movies, but when the 3D isn't the crappy kind it adds to the movie experience.

No matter how much you dislike it, 3D is here to stay. It is not a gimmick but a technology coming out of its infantile stages ready to be distributed into all media.

Ah this thread again well since I hate 3d soooo much I'm gonna post.
3d has failed before and it will fail again when they make a 3d device that doesn't require those stupid glasses or anything for you to wear then we will talk about 3d.
Right now its just a way for Hollywood to steal money from the audience.

It is not a gimmick but a technology coming out of its infantile stages ready to be distributed into all media. That is what I was trying to establish with this thread, to encite discussion since, thanks to that list, we know that 3D films will still be present at least 2 years down the track (unless most of those films are filmed in 2D and 3D is discarded at a later stage in development). A lot more money is being pumped into it this time around, and you can guarantee something that makes a ass load to the shit load power squared of money is going to stick around for quite a while. Those who invest in a 3D TV are going to want it to last over the long haul, and dont forget the old red and blue glasses are still around in DVD releases of 3D movies, no matter how much they dont work. 3D never really left, it just slowly died off from cinemas and is now seeing a resurgance with new technology.
As such, I already knew most people didnt like it from the other threads on here, yet as long as the highest grossing movie of all time (dont give me that inflation crap too, it made the most money) was 3D, producers will ride that success as long as possible. Well what about re-releases? Anything you would absolutely love/hate to see converted to 3D?

Final Destination 5 tbh cause they have "The Final Destination" which was supposed to be the final and they had that one in 3D
I am looking forward to Yugioh 3D

3D movies are fun, but here in the netherlands they sub most of the movies. So at the end of the movie you have been completely mindfucked by reading the 3d subs XD
Man, that gives you heck of headache!

Wow I wish I had that. I would love a movie itself had no 3D but subtitles were in 3D. Sounds like fun.
