3d trend. crash and burn or do you want more
Do you wanna see more 3d movies or not

The trend wont end this year. More and more films are coming out in 3d when they could do without it. Do you want to see more movies in 3d and pay the extra 3 bucks for it or are you happy in 2d? what do you think of this movie trend

Other people's opinions on 3D.
My views of 3D changed since that thread. Sure, it's still just for money, but they did improve the way I view it. When I watched the Avatar movie in 3D I wasn't uncomfortable like I was with previous 3D movies because the glasses were improved.
Usually people have this gut reaction of, "It's something different, it's gonna fail!" But I think if done right (avatar was doin' it rite), the 3D thing is a good idea.
Not sure if I can compare this to the evolution from black and white movies to colored ones.

For action films, whatever, sure.
For drama and serious films, PLEASE DEAR GOD NO. That would ruin the whole experience if they make gimmicks of 3D shit. -3-'

I doubt it will go away seeing as how it's likely the next step in tv and video games.

It most definitely is not gonna go away but I for one am not a fan.
Well I am only a fan if it is utilized well like in action movies or movies portraying really whimsical, expansive places. ( like I could imagine a lord of the rings film in 3d being fun ) but yeah I don't want everything to become 3d.
At the same time most of the 3d now is really not like ... In your face it's basically like " look! Bolt is in the foreground! The cat is in the background! " it adds a subtle depth that's nice to see but not necessary and definitely not for three or four extra bucks a pop. I can differentiate the ground for myself kthxbaiii.

Well its nice to have but not mandatory.I always thought of it as being exclusive only to movies but now that games are heading in the 3D direction,I just hope developers wont use it as a new excuse why a game doesn't deliver as intended.
I dont exactly understand why movies and games are heading towards that direction. Is it that immersive to the user?
On the bright side,we could be slowly heading towards virtual reality lol
To answer dear's question. No I rather see the same movie with no 3D.That extra $3 is meant for popcorn ^^

For me they haven't fixed at home 3d yet. and those 3d tvs only come with one pair of 3d glasses. so it's a real waste of time. though haha i have kept a few theater 3d glasses and no they dont work on the dvds sadly *sigh* but there are some movies that i dont want to see in 3d and others i have to admit are pretty amazing with the effects.

It costs $13 here to watch a 3D movie during matinée times. But to watch a regular movie without that 3D crap costs 6.50 so yeah I'd rather not pay for 3D at all. I also think it cuts down the movie quality a little.

I had nothing against it until Avatar, it hurt my eyes a lot...maybe I'm just sensible, but it was awful seeing how the scenes were fast, and sometimes it would just be blurry -_-.
And then I watched Alice in Wonderland, and big disappointement again, the beatiful colours that I love so much in Tim Burton's film were all darkened by the glasses.
And since then, I avoid every 3D like plague.

I have terrible eyesight so I prefer not to watch movies in 3D, but overall, my 3D experiences were ok.

Very disappointing. Thank god the theatre at my place offers good ole fashion 2Ds compared to 3D movies.

Best 3D period
I remember seeing a sea life movie about 10 years ago with these kind of glasses and it was real 3D. The new glasses cant compare to those and its barely 2in off of the screen. When i pay for 3D then i want 3D.

3D is the only way for the movie theatre company to make any money around this times. The "Go to the movie" thing is dying out to download movies and pirate dvds. Either you want more or not, there's going to be more 3D than we can handle or company might in time crash and burn. That might not happen(about the company crashing) but prices will skyrocket, maybe slow down in new movies, etc.

My opinon is that 3d used to be special, but now it's like if you had cake for every meal then would eventually get tired and come to hate the stuff same with 3d, the stars that showns for the least amount of time is all the more spectacular

It costs more to make a movie in 3D, money that could be spent on special effects or something else, a good movie should attract people because its good, not because of 3D, and that shits expensive

Crash and burn converted 3D. The biggest problem is that you can't always be sure whether it's converted or not. When it's been filmed in 3D though, I like it. I especially enjoy the fact that they're usually not too much like OOOH IT'S IN 3D LOOK THERE'S STUFF COMING OUT OF THE SCREEN, it tends to be a more subtle effect (especially incredible in panoramic shots) with the gimmicks reserved for action scenes.

Generally only 2 types of movies at least look OK in 3D. Animations, which can be converted easily to 3D without reducing its quality and films that were filmed in 3D to begin with. In every other senario, 3D was added on as an after thought (see: clash of the titans) and isnt required, nay intended, for the viewing of the picture. So far the only movie that in cinemas that has been shot in 3D was Avatar, with the next Resident Evil movie as the second. Im sure there are more on the way, yet as long as movies are still being shot with traditional cameras, the 3D trend will have a hard time taking route, it will fade up and fade out, just like it did in the 80's.
Personally though, since im one of the lucky ones who doesnt have any eye problems, I can at least tolerate 3D without many problems, although I agree that most movies are much better to enjoy in 2Dm they way they were intended to be.
SO GLAD SCOTT PILGRIM WASNT RELEASED IN 3D
SO DEPRESSED HARRY POTTER WILL BE
POSSIBILITY OF LAST TWILIGHT IN 3D A HUGE WTF MOMENT
Overall, it'll probably be all over by 2015 (hopefully), 3D films are starting to account for lesser profit margins and the industry isnt liking that :S
