3d Tvs Your thoughts

Comes with a pair of glasses, so does that mean I keep the glasses I get from watching 3d movies and use them on the tv o.o I wonder if that would work
Ever notice that using the glasses makes the movie darker than it would appear without them.
I'm not surprised since 3D is the trend but I doubt it's going to get much money at this moment in time.

I wear glasses so I have to put them over my glasses which is uncomfortable. Also I find the whole 3D thing pointless

I'd get one only if they figured out how to implement the 3DS's ability of showing 3D without glasses...and also if the price went down...a lot... Hell, my family barely was able to get an HD TV, thanks to its decreasing price. However, 3D HDTVs are just ridiculous...

way too much money for a gimmick like 3d I really wish it died but it's still here sucking the money out of out pockets. Oh well hopefully at lest it won't be a waste of money when the craze dies.

I don't like watching 3d movies when 3d glasses are on... why don't they invent 3d contact lens instead??...

I find the 3d glasses give me a headache after a while...
Overall, it's quite pointless.. In my opinion, it's almost as pointless as blueray. (won't go off topic)
I prefer watching normal 2d tv's.

I don't think buying a 3D TV is worth it at the moment, I mean there's not much you can watch in 3D on a tv yet anyways.
Though a 3D monitor wouldn't be bad :P playing games in 3D along with 3-way SLi multi-monitor, now that would be cool XD
Sadly to build a computer that powerful would cost a fair bit of money T_T
Unfortunately I don't think 3D is going to die anytime soon, there are too many rich people pushing for it to live...
Also (off-topic alert) I don't like blu-ray but I have to admit it has it's uses due to the size of the discs >_>

Yeah that's true about blu-ray.
Cough, but yeah.. I had a conversation about 3d tv's with a friend.. we were discussing the lawsuits or something about headaches and related things like that... :/

Yeah, heard about that, people at risk of nausea, fits, etc etc.
Then again, normal tv can cause the exact same symptoms, hmmm?
What I meant with my earlier post was that a lot have already been made and sold, it doesn't look like it's going to slow down anytime soon, and why should it?
The people who don't want 3D don't have to watch 3D, you can watch it like normal tv if you want, just take the goofy glasses off. But I don't see the need to stop an advancement in technology.

It is not all 3D technologies which require glasses, and while I personally find the whole 3D feature pointless then I do not think we can avoid it very long since it is backed heavily by the movie and hardware industry. Soon most tv set will most likely be 3D capable.

probably.
If they make the tv's 3d without the glasses, odds are it'll be like the new ds they made (could have been a prototype) it had 3d without needing glasses.... Downside, you had to be a certain distance away to actually see what you were doing. any other spot and it looked like mush

I'm not overly impressed, but I'm not going to dismiss it outright. I know a lot of people are complaining that it is too soon after the recent switch from SDTVs to HDTVs, but people have to remember how long it took for HDTVs to penetrate the market. HDTV penetration is really only just now at a good level. I think penetration was at 65% back in May 2010, so now it is probably close to three out of every four households in the United States own at least one HDTV.
I think it'll take a considerably longer time for 3DTV penetration to reach those levels. I don't expect them to be common place for at least another ten years. Jesus, I hope I didn't just make a Pachter prediction there.
Hey! Ten years? That's about how long it is projected to take for Blu-Rays replacement to start being released on consumer markets. Holographic Versatile Discs FTW!

I have Worked using 3D TV in research. (more specific this one: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Televisions/All-VIERA-Flat-Panel-HDTVs/model.TC-P42GT25 ).
And I have a better understanding on how 3D effects work. The way that 3D works is because of a series of frame-sequential images consisting of a left view and right view simultaionsly. As the frame-sequential video is playing, the 3D glasses synchronizes with the 3D glass to ensures that each eye only ever views the image it is meant to see. (example left-eye, left view ; and right-eye, right view).
Try closing your left eye and have your right eye open, and then close your right eye and close your left eye. Keep doing that simultaneously, and that the effect that the active shutter 3D Glasses is doing.
What provably causes some headachs while watching 3D is because of the human eye not being accustom to the the active shutter effect. In addition, since 3D is displaying two different views at a very fast frame rate, the eye is not accustom in viewing 2 images simultaneously.
My experiences while using this 3D tv:
- I watched anime and hentai using this 3D Tv just for fun; It was interesting enough. The effect that I saw look like it was a stack of sheets where the background was on the bottom, and the characters was on the top. There was no depth at all, which makes perfect sence since animation is 2D. At the moment, I don't belive it would be possible for Anime to achieve a 3D effect with out the used of computer generated graphics due to the depth.
- I have watched HD porn in 3D. There wasn't any noticeable differences in 3D mode. I think this will have potential, and I'm not sure if there are any porn filmed in 3D yet.
- 3D TV primary market right now is in Computer Generated graphics primaraly because of the depth, like Pixar movies, and Video Games.
As for those who are interested in wanting a 3D tv, but with out using 3d Glasses, there is this option available:

At the moment, I'm not really familiar how this actually works.

Since each eye only sees half of the images, effective frame-rate is halved. So you only see a 60 Hz display like those old CRT monitors. The switching between the left and right eye picture also creates a 60 Hz flickering effect.
