Allow me to add a few words of reason to the bit about uncircumcised penises getting diseases. The practice was really started, like many things in religious codes and texts, as not some sort of divine law but as a guideline for proper health and hygiene in what was, to be honest, a very disgusting and filthy world back then. People didn't bathe regularly in those times, and when they did the water was probably less than clean.
So it's kind of like kosher, in that the main reason nobody wanted to eat pig back then was because filthy living conditions allowed parasitic diseases like trichinosis to run wild in pigs. So really, it's something you don't actually have to do anymore if you live in a somewhat modernized place, but people still do it because it's been worked into their religious practices somehow.
In other words, if you take a shower every day, it's not like you'll ever have any problems with your dickskin.
And to be honest, if "stuff" gets "stuck" there, you NOTICE.

For what it's worth, I've had boyfriends who've been circumcised and others who were uncircumcised, and I really couldn't care less about the difference. From the girls I've talked to about the issue, that seems to be the general consensus. Cut or not, it's still a penis.
But then, most of the girls I know are perverts like me, so take it with a grain of salt.

I'm completely against that shit, for medical reasons.- What the Crap?! It's for medical reasons now that most people do it, not because they're Jews.
I was circumsized when I was a baby and I'll probably get my sons circumsized as well.

Unless you're some dirty-ass fucking sand nigger from 200 a.d then hygiene isn't an issue with being uncircumcised. Soap and showers exist for a reason. Regardless of keeping your dick clean, people that don't bathe don't have sex anyway.
Circumcision is largely pointless and I will stand by that. Most of the stuff you hear about not being circumcised resulting in greater risk of STDs and whatnot is bullshit. Not to quote it as my only defense against people who would argue against me but there is an episode of Penn and Teller Bullshit! that deals with the issue of circumcision. Some of it is irrelevant (like what happens to infant foreskin after it's cut off) but for the most part it reasonably refutes lots of misconceptions. Noutakun said it in the opposite sense of how I am saying it now but foreskin is basically like tonsils or an appendix; people shouldn't really care if you have it or not and 99% of the time they don't really result in problems (though the appendix is kind of a bad example since appendicitis can kill you fairly easily).

I am uncut. I dunno about all the research and studies and whatnot, but I, personally, have never had any problems from being uncircumcised, so I don't really see a need for it. It's just a little piece of skin, so like most of us would agree, don't be a right dirty bastard, wash yourself, and it's all good.

It looks like this is going to turn into nothing but a Monkey-Shitfight so everyone should go and read *THIS* and make up their own minds. Some of the linked articles are also worth the read.

I did it back when I was 14 and good lord in heaven i thought i put myself in hell. The reason i got circumcised was cause the foreskin wouldn't pull back and the doc's steroids weren't working either. So instead of stretching it I was just oh to hell with it cut it up. And You guys have no idea what it's like waking up from an operation and going to the bathroom with a bloody bandage over ur cock head. The next day I had to take off the bandage which was one of the most painful things ive ever done. It put me border line passing out/dizziness. And then looking at the thing in stitched ugh. Just remember if you ever have a son do him a favor and either do it when he's born or when he's moved out of your house. Cause i would have rather kept my virginity for another year than have that done to me. And what sucks is that i missed the first two weeks of freshman high school so every time a cock-joke came up I'd always be put in it.

Unfortunately yes, and I'm not bothered that I'm circumsized for any reason other than the fact that my parents thought they had the right to permenently remove a significant portion of my dick.
Frankly, that decision should have been up to me and not my parents and I think I should be able to sue for damages, seeing as the process is irreversible.

Hmm, I'm surprised how argumentative people are getting about this. I guess I'll try to clear things up a bit since I read up on it a bit awhile back due to a question someone had in IRC and covered it a bit in a sexuality class I took when I was in college.
It's done nowadays purely for visual preference and/or religious tradition(which yes, started as a hygiene issue). It doesn't really do anything for health and while some studies have suggested it improves sex, others have said just the opposite. As for infections, it's rare to get an infection under the foreskin with modern hygiene, but does still happen from time to time(recently heard about one guy that went to the beach, sand got everywhere as it tends to do and he got an infection). Even when there is an infection under the foreskin then it usually just means the guy needs to get circumcised, no big deal.
The only reason for it today is to fit cultural norms which will vary from place to place. In the US, most boys are circumcised shortly after delivery so uncircumcised penises are often seen as strange while the exact opposite is true for other parts of the world. There's not really anything to gain or lose aside from the obvious bit of extra skin.

Just to put another voice in here. From what I know Lurking is right, it is the norm in the U.S. as far as I know. Most hospitals do it right at birth.

I'm circumsized
like appendix, that skin is also functionless and no harm of its being remove except the harm of the surgical operation itself that if its done by inexperience surgeon or done by non-authorized clinic may it be harmful
while appendix is only thrown if it became nearly burst appendix or electively done in case of frequent appendicitis to prevent future appendicitis which could be more severe and more complication.
The genital circumsicion done to minimize starting source of infection such as in urinary tract infection which can ascend silently into kidney without any symptoms. In this case, to prevent infection disease to affect vital organ kidney. prevention is better than cure, isnt it?
Its not always about std. It can be of fungal infection like candidiasis. Male probably hygiene and fungal free but their female partner could be having it even with good hygiene that can occur in female
saying the skin help in sex better than in circumsized is totally not true. its like wearing a condom. male glide the skin lose the feel of glide in vagina, its warmth and so on, imagine it yourself. female will feel less gliding especially in limb skin that probably attach to vagina skin with only the male feel the glide under their skin. Also in my own opinion, getting the skin removed let the the genital have its freedom to get bigger than its skin sac and further feel you partner.
