A blog about Doujinshi
Can a blog that reviews/is about doujinshi make sense?

Goopy Reviews
I recently started this blog about the doujinshi I read/find interesting/deserve recognition/etc. I've been on and off about blogging and it essentially comes down to whether I can concentrate on the topic I blog about. Given my lack of focus and interest in almost anything, I tend to give up. This boiled down to the idea that a blog about doujinshi, one of the few things that I have not ever gotten tired of since my discovery of it, would be a good topic to blog about.
If possible, I would like your comments on whether this type of blog and specifically the content I have on it thus far, would be viably entertaining, interesting, or worth reading to the average doujinshi reader/blog enthusiast, i.e. is a blog about doujinshi, but doesn't actually supply links to the actual fap material worth it, or even makes sense.
I thank you for your time. Some comments and/or suggestions would be greately appreciated.

I like seeing things like this and I encourage you to keep doing it. After a quick look it seems good, keep it up!

Thanks Jacob! Starting up a blog is the hardest part for anyone I feel. The lack of feedback initially(though it makes sense, as it is new...) can drive anyone crazy.

I like this idea and your site. But I would also like if you could supply the link to where you can read them. Your'e not the only one who wants to read em mate ;)

Hmm, I'll consider it... if I do so, I would probably just link to fakku or doujinland or something. Though my primary concern is wordpress.com's no pornography policy. I don't want to flirt with it too much, but considering many sites based on, even distributing doujinshi using the wordpress platform(i.e. Team Vanilla and Little White Butterflies), chances are I won't get caught... but still.
I really love that gif you have there though, HungLikeAZombie.

I like the idea. I've always thought of creating one but I didn't have the writing skills for it so I just gave up. But you sir, on the other hand, is something else.
Keep up the great work! By the way, I love the tier system you have laid out.
Edit:

Thanks for the bookmark.
Just with shows, manga, books, movies, etc. I feel doujinshi can be put into tiers of differing quality. Some of my favorite artists such as Yamatogawa and Tosh will more or less always produce Tier S work, while some artists such as Cuvie and Kamino Ryuya, while very good, often enter Tier A for me.
Maybe I'll use this system and sort my collection some day, and possibly even distribute it. I need to organize all of my doujinshi, as right now, they are all sitting arbitrarily in some unorganized folders.

Hi, I looked at your site, and while I like it I have some advice. I noticed you were using decimals like "9.1 out of 10" and the like. It is my personal opinion that you stray away from decimal scores like that because what is the real difference between a doujinshi that got a 9.1 or a 9.2? I think you should stick to mostly solid numbers like "9/10" or "7/10" and if you must use a decimal only have the .5 decimal like 9.5/10 or 7.5/10. That's my 2 cents.

Sounds good! Will you review original hentai manga shorts (such as those in monthly magazines) too, or just doujin-style work?

It's viable the way you're approaching the subject. Most doujin aren't very long so a more concise review would be applicable for the general public. Planning a systemic approach to your reviews or just writing about the details that interest you?
I wouldn't include links, just the titles and/or authors. Anybody interested enough can find it from that I'm sure.

I get really paranoid when I feel something is between two integer ratings. But the .5 increments just might work. And you're right, a 9.1 and 9.2 might as well be the same thing. Thanks a lot for the tip.

I was skeptical at first about a review for doujinshi, but after browsing your site I think it'll work out just fine. However, I think some doujin is more worth reviewing than others. I like the idea of a tier system, but imo there should be seperate tiers based on the three main genres (NTR / Rape / Vanilla), unless of course you're only focusing on Vanilla. Anyways, good job, and keep it up. I hope the site grows into something all doujinshi enthusiasts will look forward to visiting.

Back from vacation. It was unprofessional of me to not leave a notice... but I figure the blog is extremely new, so not many people would mind anyway. Anywho, it should be back to reviewing soon.

Well, for starters, you should get the terminology right.
I see not a single review of a doujinshi there.
That tells me a lot about the extent of your knowledge on the subject...
Edit: You may want to include a rating for scanlator presentation. Most people are not aware of this, but the way one translates and edits stuff DOES have a massive impact on how we perceive the finished product.
Let's look at it this way - if you ignore that basic fact, all you would rate is the bootyful pictures and the nonverbal context you derive from it, as the translation to English, one of the major factors you read these works, is not god-given nor approved by the original author so there will never be a faithful representation of what the author would have done if he were to have the work in question localized.
Realize that what you read (aka the text) is not the author's text, but merely a representation (or better, interpretation) of it, and that can surely make or break something.

You make some good points. Though I beg to differ when you completely dismiss them as reviews. Scanlators do have a huge impact on the finished product, and you've encouraged me to put them into the equation for future reviews.
My primary concern is art style and a doujinshi's ability to arouse a reader, both of which I try to cover and review on the blog. I think it is safe to say that those two aspects are the driving force of what makes a fan come back to doujinshi in the first place.
It is not that I've completely forgotten about scanlators, it is just that I've neglected them, which isn't much better, yes, and I hope to put them into the picture as well in the future. Thank you for your input.
