A dream within a dream (Not Inception style)

Have you ever had a dream within a dream?
i have, i had a nightmare of me being chased by some guy and the moment he caught up and grabbed me, i woke up, relieved that it was just a dream.
So i did the usual, went up to eat breakfast only to notice that the guy in my dream was right in front of me.
And then i woke up again, shocked of what i just dreamed of.
And the worst part was when i woke up, it really felt like i was waking up, fuck i hate the realistic feelings you experience in dreams.

I dreamed I had a pony*, like a little Shetland or something. It it got sick, we took it to an animal hospital, but it died.
After "waking up", my dog (which I actually do have) got sick, we took her to the same hospital, ones of the guys I know from school showed up, and she died.
Then I "woke up" again.
Recursive dreams like that really fuck up your sense of reality.
* I have no interest in ponies, don't own one, and am not a girl so there's no subconscious stereotype at work, so it was really random.

It's not that rare, the most common one is waking up and doing your normal life. But I agree, it suck ass as I thank in my head I 'm awake. But who knows, we could be in a dream right now, Jk!

Ya but it wasn't very exciting. I don't remember what the first dream was about but I woke up and walked in to the living room. Turned out I slept all threw Saturday into Sunday and I was freaking out. Not only did I miss the anime that was showing, but more importantly I was supposed to be going on a date. Then I woke up but had to make sure I was really awake.

I had a dream that I had an almost-rape dream about my boyfriend's best friend. I woke up from the first dream, told him about it. In the dream he laughed. I woke up from that dream, told my boyfriend the whole thing, and he laughed.
My life is weird.
But yeah.. this was not first INCEPTION-like dream. It kind of freaks me out a bit, sort of makes me feel like my brain is trying to wake up, but it gets confused.

Yupppppp. I tend to remember my dreams often...
... Most of them only for the 2 hours after waking up. Because they don't really deserve to be remembered.

Damn now I'm scared outta my mind in this dark room. hell I just read the first and skipped the rest. I knew I shouldn't have read the post I knew. I had a similar dream In the dream I was being chased by the grim reaper down my upstairs hall and I could see the staircase but I wasn't getting any closer. but the reaper kept getting closer and closer util he got close enough he got out his scyth and stabbed me in the back I remember falling halfway to the ground then waking up completely calm strangely enough. And I had the dream 3 times. I stopped having dreams for awhile after that except one oe two here and their.

Does dreaming about waking up count? I actually had a recent one like that.
First dream:
Running away from these crack-head magicians who put holes in the ground for dinosaurs to erupt from.
Yes. Seriously.
Second dream in it:
I was being woken up by my brother, who obviously was annoyed at me. For some reason. And he was poking me.
In my dream, I woke up, and got dressed, but hit my toe on the door.
I woke up in real life, disconcerted. Preceded to tell my brother to stop touching me, and got dressed.
And I avoided the door.

I had this dream where I was in a huge, completely dark room where I couldn't even make out my own fingers, when I felt 5 things (this is a dream; I just felt them) chase me. I started running my ass off and but no matter how much I ran I couldn't find an exit or a wall at all. Then I felt 5 pairs of mandibles sink into my body. Turning around I saw 5 vampires with huge ass mandibles for fangs sucking the life outta me.
After 'waking up' from the pain, I went down into the dining room to have some breakfast... wait what? I don't have a dining room... and then the dining room faded into black and this time there was a whole army of vampires coming after me. As I started to run for my life, I crashed onto the floor in the real world and woke up.

I had a dream that involved me getting chased by that giant monster from Cloverfield, almost got stepped on. I then got sent further into my dream after getting pile driven into the street. I awoke to find myself in Ponyville, and it just went from their. I think I heard the Cloverfield monster roar "MUST GO DEEPER!!!"

i realized that i was dreaming in the second dream and woke up into first dream.
what i don't get is why i can't manipulate my own dreams when i realize that i'm dreaming. i also don't really understand the concept of lucid dreaming but that's neither here nor there.

Have I ever had a dream of YOU dreaming within my dream?
No.
I have, however, experienced "a dream within a dream."
P.S. A nightmare is not a type of dream, it's a type of choking ghost. In yoredays, they were also called "elves" (compare German "Alb.") If you wished to tell someone that a nightmare had come and choked you in your sleep, one would say that they'd had "elf-sickness."

I had a dream that I woke up into another one if that's what you mean. I can't remember the details of the first dream but I do remember waking up thinking I was really awake since it was my room except I realized that it was another dream seeing as Predators were attacking the town.

Necro bump.
OT: I had that kind of dream a few days ago. The only thing I can remember about my first dream was me watching a nuclear missile blowing up in front of me, then I woke up. The slamming of the front door woke me up since I was sleeping in the living room (it was an afternoon nap). I continued lying on the couch I slept on and switched on the TV, then suddenly someone shouted my name in an angry tone. Then, I woke up again, in the same place. The things that are different are that the TV is still off and I was actually sleeping on the floor this whole time.
This is the second time I'm having this kind of dream and strangely, I always felt tensed after finally waking up in the real world from both incidents.
