A good age to start having children?
0
What would you guys think would be a good general age area to think about trying to have a child? Yes I know there are other things to consider such as being financially stable enough to support a child, do you have what it takes, responsibility, and things such as that. However putting those aside, what sounds like the right age area?

Never! there are too many brats out there already, better take care of one from their worthless and useless parents, instead temporarily deforming your girl and adding to the problem!

I always figured it would be around 30 or so I started having kids.
First of all I need a partner though, and granted, the more I work around the little buggers the less I am inclined to acquire one :P

There are way too many couples having kids these days that are horrible parents. It's either that they weren't prepared, they were too young or thought having a kid together would strengthen the relationship.
There are tons of other reasons, but I don't see how age has anything to do with it. I've seen people who are my age (21) take care of their children better than those who are older. I've also seen it vice versa. I think there is no real true 'golden' ages to have a kid. I mean my teacher was about 35-38 when she was having her child and the hospital thought of her as in the 'danger age zone' of having possible complications when the time came for her baby to be born.
So it just depends on the couple. Some couples could be ready at the age of 25 while others wait a few more years. My parents had a huge age difference (my mom was young) but she was ready for a child and so was my father.
So I don't know. If you really want a typical age answer I would say 22 and beyond. I don't find 35 and beyond too old to have kids, although for women the risk does increase for complications as they get older. So, that pretty much sucks especially since in my opinion I would think 30+ is better because the person would have stability in their lives.

The age to have kids depends on how long you are going to live and your genealogy. The formula is as follows:
y=1/3(1/2a + 1/2b)-2x
"a" is the (presumed or actual) age of your father at death (only applicable with a non-anomalous death)
"b" is the (presumed or actual) age of your mother at death (only applicable with a non-anomalous death)
"x" is the number of children you plan to have
"y" is the age you should start having kids
I honestly just made this formula up on the spot, so as far as I know it's original (at least in this context).
I haven't actually tested this out on paper, but I would be pleased if it had any real value.
EDIT: You could try 2/7 instead of 1/3 I suppose. I'm just spitballing.
y=1/3(1/2a + 1/2b)-2x

I think a reasonable age to start having children would be around the mid to upper 20's. People who are teens or in their early twenties have too much going on. Their lives are changing too much. Its not a good environment for someone so young to be raising a child in.

I think the respectable age to have kids is probably somewhere between 25-30. By than, you pretty much should be on your own, have a decent amount of money saved, and have a career going, if not starting to.

Low 20's to late 20's. Both my sisters are having reproductive problems. Older sister is just hitting 30 and both her and her husband have issues in that area. So they're going artificial insemination, which is very costly and not pleasant. Waiting is always a good idea financially and such, but that doesn't mean your body is going to respect that decision.

y = 1/3(1/2a+1/2b)-2x
let "father at death" = average life span of male in community
let "mother at death" = average life span of female in community
this is to eliminate eratic results + I dont know my family that well.
male average = 78.9 years
female average = 83.6 years
y = 1/3((1/2x78.9) + (1/2x83.6))-2x
y = 1/3(39.45+41.8)-2x
y = 1/3(81.25)-2x
lets say I just want to have 1 child.
y = 1/3(81.25)-2x1
y = 1/3(81.25)-2
y = 27.08-2
y = 25
So according to the formula, I should be 25 when I have my first child.
Most have been saying between 25-30.
Good show skoobadoop, it worked for me lol.

Just noticed that this formula promotes paedophilia in underdeveloped countries:
a = b = 45, central africa for example
x = 5, same region
y1 = 1/3 * (1/2 * 45 + 1/2 * 45) - 2 * 5 = 5
y2 = 2/7 * (1/2 * 45 + 1/2 * 45) - 2 * 5 = 2,8571...
LOL! 5!!! LMAO, 2,8571?!?!?
Obviously some scientists worked hard for that formula :p

For me, never. Hate the little brats. YMMV, though. But the soonest I can have kids (thanks to loooong term BC that I am not touching) is by the time I'm 29.

Keep in mind, the more kids you want, the earlier you have to start.
Though I cant see anyone, at 17, saying 'you know what, I think I want 23 kids' lol
Then again, there are shows like 20 kids and counting, maybe its the hip new thing to have insane amounts of children, or they are compensating for those of us who choose to have none.

The Central African lifespan of 45 years might as well be considered anomalous, as it is not "normal" or representative of the rest of the world's population (I.E. AIDS, severe malnutrition and starvation, lack of effective medicinal knowledge, war, genocide, being black, etc.)
Also, the formula is user specific anyway, so you are much more likely to get a valid answer if you use values that actually apply to you.

I'd agree with 21-26... But as long as you can afford it. Really, army pay is only $400 a month? That is terrible... I work for mcdonalds and get close to $400 a week most weeks... But yeah, my gf and I will probably wait till around the 24/25 ish area before we even try..

There is no set age. Some people are still broke and wondering aimlessly through life at 40. Others are successful and have their life together at 21 or younger. Just ask yourself if you would be proud to have yourself as a parent. If you have the ability to help your child grow into a person that can create what they want for themselves.
