AARRGGH!!!! Only Bitmap?!

Long story short my sister took her laptop to her friend so they could fiddle with her ipod stuff on it. Afterwards any image regardless of what format/type it was originally can only be saved under bitmap even if it was gif, jpeg, etc. I know that you can choose the type you save it under but the only option is bitmap and its a pain converting all the images. Her computer friend said that there's a way to change it back but unfortunately she doesn't remember how. Can anyone help me out here please?

right click a pic file like jpg gif or png... (you will have to do this to each file type)
open with> choose default> windows preview or what ever picture program you have.
then all of those file type will be the default open program.

I do believe the issue is [b]saving[/i], not opening, animefreak.

AJ, are you using Internet Explorer or AOL?

I'd smack your sister and her friend upside their heads and tell them to quit fucking with shit that they don't know about. You might try to mention the image editing software that you are using so that we may better troubleshoot. It may come down to a setting inside the program.

edit: Well I tried the suggested steps but it didn't work. Now I have to find something to backup my files to before trying the next step. Just great.

If you are using a pc... The default program "Paint" can allow you to edit picture files and save thme under any format including .bit or bitmap
I convert all my files from (insert photo file type here) to jpeg to put on my Mircosoft Zune... I love my pc

If you are using a Mac... get a pc and use my tips...

If you're using a Mac, just open the file in the built-in Preview.app and File > Save As... whatever format you want. GIF, JPG, PNG, TGA, TIFF, BMP, even ICO and the ancient OS 9 PICT.

But I'm guessing that's not the issue here.

You know, I always forget about this until I've tried everything else. Run system restore and reset the laptop to before the date that they started messing with their ipod stuff.
