Add-block Plus isn't working. Someone help!

I installed Add-block plus several times now, and still nothing.
I checked and the website said it would work with my version of Firefox. But when I open "Tools" and check "Add-ons", I see:
Add-block Plus 1.2
This add-on will be updated when Firefox is restarted
Not compatible with 3.6
-I restarted five times, already, and I even went so far as to install Firefox version 3.0.12 and 3.5.9. Both times I got the same thing, only it'd say:
Not compatible with 3.5.9
_________or__________
Not compatible with 3.0.12
Help me, someone! I can't enjoy this website if I keep running into these adds which I shouldn't have to deal with in the first place!

Go to help -> check for updates and then upgrade to the latest version of Firefox (3.6.3).
