Antivirus Options

Hey

I recently gotten my new Desktop and it came with a Norton 360 and I was wondering should I bother downloading this or should I download the one's I use with my laptop?

In my Laptop I was using 2 security and 1 cleaner programs

1) Malwarebytes Anit-Malware

2) HitmanPro

3) System Mechanic

And having all 3 of these in my lower spec'd laptop kept it running quite smoothly with barely any lose on speed when browsing or playing video games. So with that said should I download these 3 or try my Norton that I got bundled with? (Only worry I have with Norton is that its said to affect your connection/speed)

Norton is crap, last time i used it blocked every program from connecting to the internet and it uses a lot of RAM and CPU

I use avast and avg. Avg is on my non network secure computer for personal reason... can USB the updates.

1. Nuke and pave
2. Install Microsoft Security Essentials
3. Install Safe Browsing Habits with the Common Sense expansion pack and enjoy life

The anti-virus I'm using is common sense.

if you willing to pay, then Bitdefender is the best. Then, Kaspersky

I use avast (the free version). Have for the past 4 or so years. Just mute the your virus definitions have been updated message and then it is pretty sweet.
No virus problems with it so far although some malware did get through once. I got rid of it though using malwarebytes.

Never liked Norton. It thinks everythings a virus when it isnt half the time.
I swear they do it to make there number of viruses caught larger for boasting rights. I guess it also makes it seem like there are virus risks everywhere and thus convinces people to purchase it.

Avast! I used to, but it sometimes damages certain system files rather than repairing it. Currently I'm using Microsoft essentials about more than a year and no problem.

Norton = EVIL. iirc it's basically a virus that's barely under control. Even if that's not the case, that's what it acts like. If you're using Windows 7 and under, MSE is a great free option if you, to quote Rovencrone:

Adding on Malwarebytes is a great secondary measure. If you are using Windows 8, you should have the "new" windows defender; which is essentially MSE. Good luck.
