Any Electronica artist recommendations
0
For this thread, I want the users here to recommend any artist that you listen to who deals with electronica here. I've been getting myself into the that particular genre of music. As for the definition of electronica, it includes but is not limited to the follwing music genres:
Alternative
Ambient
Breakbeat
Dance-punk
Disco
Drum and bass
Downtempo
Electronic body music (EBM)
Electro
Eurodance
Freestyle
Post-disco
Hardcore
Hardstyle
Hi-NRG
House
Industrial
Intelligent dance music (IDM)
Speedcore
Techno
Trance
UK garage
A more detailed list can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_electronic_music_genres
Some artists I've listened to and thought were awesome:
Paul Oakenfold: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Oakenfold
Chris Clark, aka Clark: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Clark_(electronic_musician)
Basement Jaxx: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basement_Jaxx
Robert Miles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Miles
Andy Hunter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Hunter%C2%B0
Darude: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darude
Crystal Method: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_method
Utah Saints: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utah_Saints
Exit Trance: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exit_Trance
As you can see, my list is rather small. I'm introduced to new electronica artists through exposure from AMVs, and I think that's a rather slow method. So any artist you listen to or like that deals with electronica, name away along with a link to his/her discography like what I did up there ^. Links to discography torrents would be nice as well.
And of course, what thread would this be without some sample music? Here are some awesome AMVs that feature kickass electronica music:
AMV: Magic Pad, by Nostromo_vx
- Artist: Mike Shiver & Ashkan Fardost
- Song: Arise (Hammer & Funabashi Remix)
AMV: Bustled Up!, by Artofeel.
- Artist: Clark
- Song: Totem Crackerjack
- Album: Totems Flare

Just a few artists I think are worth checking out, though to be honest I don't dig very deep to find new electronica musicians...
Boards of Canada - Chill ambient electronica, you can find most major releases on Mediafire.
Rei Harakami - Ambient
The Field - Minimal Techno, search for MF links.
I also recommend J Dilla and Flying Lotus for chill instrumental hip hop, you've probably heard their stuff in Adult Swim bumps.
Flying Lotus - Massage Situations
J Dilla - Waves

From their MySpace.
"'Nightcore' are two boys from Alta, named Thomas S. Nilsen and Steffen Ojala Søderholm. We mix techno/dance music into faster and more happier sounds for your listening pleasure! Our name, 'Nightcore', means that we are the core of the night, so you'll dance all night long."

This is great! I'll be definitely be giving these guys a try. I feel that while I'm not a hardcore electronica fan yet, I'm slowly getting there because simply put, the stuff is awesome. And as testament, here's another AMV, featuring the artist Pendulum that GameON recommended.
AMV: TestosteROS, by Koopiskeva (5th track) and co.
Artist: Pendulum
Song: Granite, Visions

I really enjoyed this one as well.
J Dilla - Donuts (Intro)

I would post the Bonobo (Simon Green) bumps but no one has uploaded them, it seems.
I'll probably make a longer post later, but I think I'll mention Yppah (Joe Corrales), one of the artists who "got me into" electronic music. In my book, he also holds the distinction of having one of the best debuts I've heard of any artist.
Yppah - Again With The Subtitles (Ninja Tunes)
Spoiler:
Release Information
His full album release is classic - You Are Beautiful At All Times - spanning downtempo, IDM, Trip Hop, and Future Jazz.

I've listened to most artists recommended here, and I'm still waiting to find viable torrents for certain artists. (meaning I'll do it later tonight)

Downtempo Artist: Son Lux
Sample Song: "Break" from At War with Walls and Mazes
That's the only serious suggestion I have. I also have some lulzy techno from a little German band.
Techno Artist: Scooter

Aw, I've only got a couple tunes (if that) dating back to Moving Shadow's heyday. Are you sure you won't be disappointed?
