As Life Flows By

Awesome Green Carnation song out of the way, ever have those days where you feel like life has just flown right past you?
Bit of a personal story/rant here so there is your heads up:
I was on Facebook early this morning for essentially the first time in a few years. I was bored, and started looking up the profiles of a lot of my high school friends that I used to talk to regularly. It seems as though everyone has moved on with their life. Most of my friends have graduated college already and have a great job, or are training for their career. Some of them are even married and having children.
Started feeling really nostalgic and really left out in the cold. I just now secured a job, of which I hadn't had since my Junior year of high school. I feel like I just took one step on the walk of life and everyone else has already crossed the finish line.
Oh I've heard the adage that they feel the same way when they read up on how someone else is doing. "Wow, I'm so jealous I wish I had that life." However, I couldn't imagine any of them would feel that way if they looked at what I have been doing for the last few years.
Luckily I'm on the right path to start walking myself, but it is so discouraging to know that I've spent so many years doing essentially nothing and knowing that seemingly everyone is so far ahead of me.
Edit: Sorry about the title. Apparently can't have quotation marks. *shrugs*

"What you don't achieve in the beginning makes up for what you aquire at the end"
It does strike a chord when you see fellow classmates doing big things. But its just life. Some have it easier than others. To be honest you will get there if you are determined.

Each person has their own tracks to follow. Some lay down their tracks themselves. The grass is always green on the other side of the river, but dont let it get you down. Dont let it fool you either. Each person will have hardships.
What matters is that at the end of your life and you look back at how you lived. You can say, "Thats was my life." Thats what truly matters in the world. Living life, and doing what you can while in it.

100% understand what you are talking about. I've been struggling with this for some time now. Everyone has their own life to live, so I don't think trying to 'catch up' with others is necessary unless you're trying to show off at high school reunions or something. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Also, damn you, now I've got that song in my head :D

If we put analogy by everyone walk on their own track,
Then all along these days you just stand there . Doing nothing other than just seeing track lies in front of you.
And now, you have realize it, and you said that you are on the right path. Start walking and if possible running to reach the end of your track.
Good luck with it.
Well, i cannot say that i am not just standing in my track right now.
The cycle of life sometime unfair ... and whenever i got depressed , i just stand on my track .. long time wasted by just standing to get rid of the depression.
Every human need determination to move on .. thing that i lack.
For summary, just like what Reno said,
Living your life ... every people will have hardships from time to time.
If you can face the hardship and not running away by it .. That will be your valuable point to keep moving forward.

I enjoy solitude, so I can't really say anything about looking back on my high-school years. I have a few good friends and we've decided to always keep in touch and live close to each-other.
I don't really believe there are any set paths or tracks in life. For me, life is about finding out what you enjoy the most and sticking with it the entire way through. Is there any point in moving on if you're content and happy with your life? In the end, it all leads to the same thing, so you may as well sit back and enjoy the ride.
I'm fine with a low paying job that I have an opportunity to move up in. Sure it only goes so far, but as long as I have enough to pay rent, afford food, cigarettes, weed, internet and a new computer every now and then, I'm content and will continue to live the life I'm living.

Kind of Important
A ray of Tsunlight.
I'm on a similar boat.
I just now got a decent job. Haven't had one since my junior year. I was in the Navy but got injured and discharged.
And I sat around for a few months before I found this job.
I haven't gone to college, and my grades were so terrible in high school due to me being lazy I doubt I'll even manage to get into a decent one.
I've yet to do anything really good with my life yet. But I'm not too old at all.( and chances are you aren't either.) Just gotta keep on moving and not get bogged down in bad jobs or decisions.

I'm not that far out of high school so most people I know are still where I am but I get what you're talking about.
But, I'm more preoccupied with what I'm doing and don't feel the need to compare what I'm doing to others. I'm doing what I'm doing, I don't think it's right to compare your sucesses on the same level as others.
If you're not happy where you are, you could try and find out what's missing and go for it.

Better now then never.
I've never really cared what others did or are doing with their lives. Perhaps it's because I feel there's nothing wrong with my life but I know there are past friends who are in a better position than me now. While I was playing games/on forums in high school, they were studying, volunteering, making connections, but the thing is, I am still playing games/on forums. My life is my life and theirs is theirs; however, it would be a lie if I don't have a hint of jealousy. But I know i'll EVENTUALLY get around to doing great things, haha. :)

just a tip, next time the title of the thread could be more closely related to the topic if you want more replies and whatnot.

The title is just fine. It's about life flowing by, in general. I tried to not personalize it too much, but I obviously did and the replies are as a result, but oh well.
Things are slowly on the up-and-up anyway.
As for not making it a race, I indeed agree, but sometimes you just can't help feeling the way you do. As long as I go my own pace and enjoy myself it is all I should care about.
