Awkward Handshakes (And Variations), How Do You Deal?

People always tell me my hand is either too firm or too loose. I never get it right.
Well ain't that comforting. >.>

i hate awkward hand shakes -.-
i went to the doctors, and after we were done with everything, i stuck my hand out for a handshake, and exactly at that point, the doctor looked away.
My hand must have been in the corner of her eye though, which made me think 'maybe she'll notice'. If i moved my hand away, she would notice the movement and sofhgdlgsdgsipg awkward

The important thing is momentum. Whatever happens, just roll with it, even if you didn't make a perfect impression moving on is better than trying to fix it.
A firm (but not vice like) handshake is better than trying for a "perfect" response. Same goes for how much to shake. People nowadays come from different cultures and different customs, so there's no "universal handshake protocol". So just be yourself, have some confidence and roll with it.

Ick!
I seriously think other cultures need to adopt a bowing-based greeting policy.
I don't want to touch your dirty hand .-.
But if I have to, I make sure to grip tight and look you in the eyes. I mean business, bitch.

Women aren't allowed to shake hands. Shit's taboo here. I swear, this one time, I shook a woman's hand. I got the nastiest stares ever, yo. Old guys was tryin' to mess my shit with their eyes.

[font=Verdana][color=green]Perhaps, but then again bowing isn't an overly good symbol of trust. If someone bowed at me when I offered them my hand, I would be slightly insulted. The handshake offers connection and sacrifice; "I'm sacrificing my "attacking hand" so I mean no harm"

Kind of Important
A ray of Tsunlight.
The proper way. Good grip and eye contact.
Not like 90% of the pussy people around nowadays. Some limpdick half-assed handshake...
As if it's so hard to actually pretend you give two-shits about giving me a handshake, cause I guarantee I didn't want to do it either, but I'll still do it properly.

It has happened a few times where I put my hand out for a hand shake but the other person is trying to do a hand slide+fist pump and I just end up holding and shaking his limp hand. Awkward as hell. Just play it off.

I usually just do the firm handshake. It's formal and simpleUnless they go for a high five.
Just go along with it (unless its' something really awkward)
Ditto.
Hate getting the fist bump or the weird finger shake.
I get neither of those. Frankly because I seem to intimidate people, which is odd.
