Bakugan: The Movie AKA Pokemon is too hard
0
Well I know this news has been around for a while but I was surprised to see the lack of a thread here detailing it.
As i'm sure most of you aware, yes they are making a live-action adaptation of the Bakugan line of toys and anime series.
Here is a synopsis if you dont know about the series:
"In the parallel world of Vestroia, a powerful Bakugan in search for power named Naga decides to absorb the energy of the two opposing cores that preserve the balance and peace in Vestroia. However he absorbed too much power and energy found within the Silent Core, the source of negative energy. The Infinity Core, the source of positive energy had been absorbed by Wavern.
In the first season, the story centers on six friends who find metallic cards which have fallen from the sky or to be more precise, Vestroia itself. They name themselves the Bakugan Battle Brawlers and consist of seven children: Dan, Shun, Runo, Marucho, Julie, Alice, and later Joe. Together they learn more about the origin of the Bakugan, Vestroia, the game involving them, and the battle against people who are under Naga's control."
Here is a summary of what rottentomatoes had to say about it:
BAKUGAN: BECAUSE THE DRAGONBALL AND LAST AIRBENDER MOVIES WORKED OUT SO WELL
A year ago, many fans were cautiously optimistic about M. Night Shyamalan's adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but now the movie is seen as one of the biggest critical and box office bombs of 2010. The year before, Dragonball: Evolution likewise did very poorly. And yet, Hollywood continues to develop live action movies based upon similar animated action/adventure TV series. The latest example is Bakugan, which Universal Pictures is developing, based upon the strategic figures/card game and the animated TV series Bakugan Battle Brawlers. Universal Pictures has hired director Harald Zwart (Agent Cody Banks, The Pink Panther 2) to start work on Bakugan. Harald Zwart is at a good place in his career currently, coming off the surprise summer success of his remake of The Karate Kid. There is currently no screenwriter attached to adapt Bakugan Battle Brawlers as a movie, but Harald Zwart will most likely be involved in finding and working with a screenwriter soon. Zwart is also executive producing a movie adaptation of the PC video game series RollerCoaster Tycoon. Bakugan has earned the spot as the Most Rotten Idea of the last few weeks based mostly on the lackluster results from previous recent attempts to adapt shows like Bakugan into live action movies.

So what do you guys think? I think it sounds as rotten as Yugioh 3D but its really making me worry about the future of all anime adaptations, given there doesnt seem to be anything sacred anymore, any series seems to be fair game now of a live action conversion, even if its success is questionable.
Also one last thing to note; "Though initially a failure in Japan, the series became popular in the United States and Canada, prompting the creation of a second season, New Vestroia, which aired in other countries before Japan."

They won't release the new Pokemon movies in theaters due to fear of low sales, but they release THIS bullshit?

Semi-Popular Kids Game = Small Cash Cow able to be Milked to death and then beat afterwards.
I'm more interested in how they think they can pull off a RollerCoaster Tycoon Movie... Unless of course that was just crap.

After uni me and my bro would always go to his place and louse around and due to nothing better to do, watch cartoon network or shitty movies for hours and just laugh at how terrible they are.
Bakugan is among the top in terms of sentimentally crappy shows. I think we may just have to see this.
