Ben Affleck announced as new Batman

When I heard that they were doing an older Batman, I was honestly hoping for someone along the lines of Josh Brolin. Now that I know that Ben Affleck got the role, I'm more curious than anything. I know the guy can act. He's done plenty of great movies to attest to that. Heck, if he can be more intimidating than Bale's marble-gargling, I'd be a happy man.

If anything, I'm more worried about the director. Zack Snyder seems to have no faith in Batman when it comes to matching him up against Superman. That makes me more wary than the somewhat controversial casting.

I see this as an opening to that same crap they pulled when they went with poison ivy/mr. freeze/two face/riddler. this first one might be half way decent, but I suspect a few sequels involving the justice league. the first few might have major players like wonder woman, flash, green lantern, but I fully expect a downward spiral involving aquaman. a sad attempt to compete with the avengers(which I also expect to have at least one sequel. maybe more).

Was beginning to think I was the only one. Dat raspy voice he puts on is annoying as hell.

I am in full agreement with both of you. Making Batman sound like he had gargled chlorine for half his life was a total mistake.
