Best Budget Intel or AMD CPUs
0
So im building a pc once more, but this is a brand new one everything is perfectly fresh.
Basically ive got everything i need except for the motherboard and cpu...
But all i need to know is the cpu cause the motherboard will come afterwards that, and ill just make a personal choice on that.
The GPU ill be using for this build will be on the range of a hd 7750-7770 or a GTX 650ti/ GTX 760
So what im looking for is a budget CPU thats either amd or intel. It doesnt really matter, im after price and performance for gaming. Something that will reach to High settings, without any fancy settings going on with it.
The budget for the CPU is 70 - 150 dollars
Its alright if the suggestions you give never reach 70 dollars, which i think is good cause the 150 budget is what im really after. But if theres anything less than 150 dollars and performs really well, i might as well get that too!
Thanks in advance for the help!

Athlon II X4 750K - $80~
FX-6300 - $110~
FX-8320 - $150~
i3-4130 - ~130
That's pretty much it for Intel's side under 150. And all of these CPUs won't bottleneck the GPU choices at all.

Cant wait to get started with the build!!!

I recommend you the FX 6300. The extra cores will help you in demanding games, better multitasking, awesome price - performance.
From what are you upgrading btw? :D

Well yea, I wanted to know what you currently have...still considered an upgrade even if its the whole thing.

If you do rendering get fx-8350 if not get the fx-6300 and save the remaining 40 bucks and add it to your graphics card's budget. Dont mind the core i3s, majority of applications are now taking advantage of 4 cores or more.

I wouldn't skimp on the CPU imo, if you can stretch your budget see if you can get your hands on a second hand i7 3770[K] (if you're lucky).
You'll be better off in the long run as you won't need to upgrade your CPU for a while, also you'll have the option to go to something more powerful later on without having to change motherboards if you lack processing power.
Bottomline: You want minimum i5 if you plan to game and want your box to last for a while, if you can save a little bit longer you'll be able to score a better CPU for not that much more.

AMD Athlon X4 760K CPU: $90
MSI A78M-E35 Motherboard: $60
Radeon R7 260X: $140
8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport RAM: $73
1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue HDD: $60
430W Corsair CX430 PSU: $35
Rosewill Line-M Case: $50
Total: $503 according to newegg...
I say AMD because you are after gaming performance.
AMD currently working on mantle which suppose to boost gaming performance from 10-40%... If you really in for gaming I would focus mainly on the GPU and PSU.

For a long term purpose FX-8350 is a good way to go, it's in the price range similar to i5, also since the next gen consoles are based on 8 core apus, there's a big change that games will be optimized for more than 4 cores. Up until now only the latest frostbite engine of battlefield 3 and 4 is fully utilizing a quad core, even the original Metro and the Last Light are not fully dependent on core count but on instruction per clock. This year onwards it'll be different because of the consoles.

That's to be seen up until now hardly anything has been properly optimised for 4+ cores. AMD chips fell out of favour with me due to heat issues and general performance issues for photographic editing.
But one thing that I do like about AMD's chipsets are the insane amount of SATA plugs you can get on even the most entry level of motherboards.

We'll see it this year onward because of xbone and ps3, it's also just in the price range of i5s,.
