Best solution for watching anime on your TV?
0
Hi all,
So I'd like to watch anime on my TV instead of my PC, because I find it more relaxed and because it's a bigger screen. And I have a X360, but streaming to it with whatever program* just doesn't cut it.
And so I looked into other solutions, like a PS3 or a Popcorn Hour, but maybe (probably) you guys already know what works and what's best and maybe what's the cheapest solution while it still works proper. (I'd like to know both)
I don't really want to waste all my money on a more expensive solution when there's a cheaper one that works as well. But if there isn't, then, yeah, I'm just aware of that fact :P I won't set a budget I want to stay within, because I'd like to know about all solutions, or the best and the cheapest that still cuts it.
* Windows Media Center, TVersity and PS3 Media Server.
Thank you very much in advance!
Ifaed.
Edit: The problems with the programs were these: WMC: very slow (had to buffer constantly), no subtitles I believe? TVersity: Slow as well, same problems I believe. PS3 Media Server: Slow, 100% CPU use. I don't remember too well anymore...

Do what I do, I download my anime in torrents (HD), plug my computer into my TV via-HDMI, and just sit down, and enjoy, or you can download episodes in avi, save them to a USB Flash drive, plug it into the x360 and enjoy.

Their also a wifi tv/monitor connector bridge or media box option too.

they usually cap at 1024x768 or they have low FPS.
I would recommend an HDMI cable or DVI with a 8th" to RCA cable or Y adapter.

Yeah this would work.
What I'm planning to do sometime is hook up a flat screen TV (because you can get a 30-40" flat screen for almost the same price as a 20-30" monitor) to a desktop computer (laptops work too) with HDMI/DVI/VGA and just stream online.

30$ vga or hdmi cordWhere do you shop? $30 is overkill for either. A great 4-8' can go for $8-15 tops.

Saw the price at target, use it since most people buy stuff in the stores or off the big 6 internet stores.. never bought one since my tv is wireless to my old tower and is net ready.

Wow.. your prices are cheap as... the price for a good 8' hdmi cable down here is like $120... and a decent vga cable costs like $50 or so.. goddamn local stores suck down here >

Yeah, I'd go with the majority and hook up your HDTV to your pc via an HDMI cord. Thats what I'm doing now after trying out all the failed alternatives.

The prices are great but the cables aren't braided.

Thanks for the answers, but my computer is not right next to my TV and my monitor is connected to my PC, so yeah, then I would need another PC, that would be quite costly I guess...

I know you mentioned PS3 Media Server, which is typically what I use if I want to watch any anime or whatever on my TV. The only problem is the bandwidth required to stream anything HD requires you to turn down the video quality somewhat on wireless. If you can run a hard connection to your PS3, PS3 media server is pretty epic, if not, it can have some problems.

Get latest Xvid4PSP and convert the videos using the Xbox360/PS3 preset given and put the converted mp4 files in the USB drives to watch them through PS3/X360. From what I've seen there was no visible video quality loss.
Just make sure to change the audio to stereo if you plan on using X360, since it only supports mono and stereo sound. Recent movies like Rebirth of Evangelion may have up to 7(!) audio channels.
