I use Firefox, because I haven't even bother trying anything other than it, IE, and google chrome when chrome was in its earliest beta stages.
I just hate IE in general because of numerous issues, and when I tried chrome, it was just too much work getting used to it, not very first-time user-friendly.
To be fair though, chrome might be leagues better now, I dunno.
But from those three, especially compared to IE, Firefox is a faster browser from what I've noticed, assuming you don't get a TON of addons.

Firefox is the tank of browsers, with a shit load of add-on but it's slow as fuck.
Most of the time, I use Chrome. It's faster, but it doesn't have many add-ons/extensions. Opera is also pretty good.

I wonder when Mozilla will optimize Firefox in the near future to compete with Chrome. They could easily overhaul the engine and get rid of a lot of unnecessary junk which slows Firefox down, and since it's open source, they could easily make it happen.
It looks like the open source browsers, Chrome and Firefox already have a majority of the market share, which shows that closed source browsers can't really compete (on a consumer level) with the open source giants which are taking the market.
I still support Opera though, its always fun to cheer for the underdog. Just discovered recently that you can use your computer as a web server through Opera (they actually publish your website under their domain no strings attached!).

Obvious answer is obvious.
Even though I'm a Chrome user (because of its fast speed), people choose Firefox for its add-ons and such
