Buyer's Remorse

What are some purchases you've made in life, and/or what's the most expensive purchase you've made that you regret?

For me it's any souvenir I've purchased when I was much younger. I could've easily saved my money, and spent it on a video game that I would've still held on to (and even play), to this day. And given the rarity of most older games nowadays, I feel I made some bad choices.

I am sure I have made plenty of silly purchases over the years, from artbooks, magazines to other miscellaneous items. However, I try my best not to think about it after the purchase, lest it causes more unhappiness and/or regret rather than satisfaction.

On the bright side, these items could possibly come in useful someday. :)

Does this include having to buy duplicates of games I used to own because I was horrible at keeping them scratch free? Because that happened a lot while I was a teenager.

I bought a model of Stingray on Amazon because I've wanted one ever since I was a kid, and the wonders of modern internet allowed me to make my childhood dream a reality. Great quality and quite heavy, but at the time I was partly regretting buying it. Now I don't.

I always love having artbooks, or magazines around. Even if I have no specific use for them. I even went back and purchased the final issue of Nintendo Power, even though I have no real use for it. I already owned the first, so I feel I needed to at least own the last.

I wouldn't say buying duplicates counts as buyers remorse. I've had to replace games here, and there. I usually have the feeling of "I should've been a better owner". Unless it was a 360 game. My 360 had a blast scratching those discs.

I've spent over $200 on a single MTG deck back in high school with the money I saved up from my job and was suppose to use for college.

It sucked because the local FNM (where you go play to earn prizes) moved away and I wasn't close to the people I played back in high school, so now I just have a $200 deck sitting on my desk, but I refuse to sell it in hopes I could find a place or someone to play with again.

I regret buying a kindle fire hd, because it is very slow and the app store sucks. How ever i know use it to store 30gb worth of animted game girls compilations.

I ordered this Yamaha drum pad, and when it arrived it played like shit. That's not the worst part though. I paid over $400 for it and it cost me a shit ton to send it back. Plus getting a box for shipping it sucked.

A few years ago a couple of my friends attempted to get me back into Yu-Gi-Oh along with them, they went out of their way to start building an Atlantean Mermail deck for me to start with. Lo and behold, it ended up being the most expensive deck at the time. Spent around $200 before deciding to drop it since I had other hobbies at the time that I felt were more worth my money. Regret every bit of it, still haven't gotten around to selling what I obtained and trying to get some of that money back.

C&C 4 Tiberian Twilight. Purchased it as soon as it got released just to find out that EA completely destroyed what C&C was all about (story sucks too). Spent 60€ on a game that I played for maybe 10 hours.

Recently, Corsair 760T. I regret so much buying this case.

Mainly this for me, although I will end up spending a bunch of money on games that I don't even play for ten hours. Only like, 1-5 hours sometimes. These are usually on sale, especially if they are digital, but I have several JRPGs and a pile of steam and gog games that I have never even touched or have just barely messed with.

I really just need to stop buying video games. At this point, all I really need are the hot new multiplayer ones because I have such a huge backlog of management sims, city builders, RPGs etc. that I could be entertained for at least a few years if I just played them.

Yeah. There's always formats that let you use older cards, as well. Especially Commander. I too have experienced times where the local hobby shop goes under. Luckily others pop up over time, sometimes.

Heiyin The Bad Juices
Spent about 600 dollars buying a HOTAS and pedals setup for playing flight/spacesims. Two months later, I lost interest and wanted to dedicate more time to pursuing my education and career.
Now its collecting dust. If I could go back in time, I'd slap myself because deep down I knew I was wasting money.

I bought a simple Wacom drawing tablet for my old-ass PC for about $100, with the intention of finally drawing more and being able to display my artwork online, but my PC died a few days later. I then ended up buying a more up-to-date laptop to replace it, but it has a touchscreen... which makes having a Wacom tablet pretty superfluous.

The real punchline is that I haven't drawn a single thing in months since I bought either one.

but I never have time to start,so it just sits around...

Tools are one of those things that will usually just sit around. It's kinda like insurance. You'll often go great periods of time without needing it, and curse the fact that you payed for it, but when you need it, you'll be glad you have it. I try my best to get tools that can accomplish more than one task, that way I get more bang out of my buck (which is why I fucking love Dremels). Otherwise, they often rarely get used.

Yeah,I guess it isn't too bad....
Indeed,it has even got all kinds of fancy gimmicks like a laser pointer, and it can even turn 45° left and right to cut, considering that it costed around 30 euros it was a steal...After careful consideration, I guess that I am not so remorseful anymore!
