You could start your collection of Nendoroid they range from about 40-90 dollars each or figmas that are about the same price range too.
Otherwise a good quality scale figure such as one this then you're looking at least 80-90 dollars, and for really high quality stuff it's usually >90.

They get very expensive, and cheap ones that look high quality are a lot of the time bootleg that you import from China so you want to be careful.
You'll have to just build up your collection slowly over a period of time and just buy one nice figure every so often.

yeah i wouldn't disagree with you there. I did buy a kanu unchou statue from them that was more expensive than other stores. However, the customer service and ease of transaction is exemplary so Id rather visit them and pay a little extra than ship it from abroad and the figure waits in customs for 2-3 weeks (which i'm currently experiencing with a figure shipped from california). Still pros and cons i guess...

I suggest AmiAmi or Hobby search, their prices will be (most of the time) cheaper then any other reseller.
And Hobby search gives you points when you purchase stuff from them, so you could use that to waiver of your next purchase or save it up for a rainy day.

Yes, where you are located in the world is going to be a determinant factor into how much you'll ultimately pay.
I will say immediately that since you are starting out you may potentially look at figures that are released via blister packs. While not as an intricate selection as with higher quality figurines, very often you can find good quality figurines within the realm of blister pack sales. You may have to look on eBay and Amazon to find them, but eventually you will.
The issue with above however is obvious - once you open a blister pack, the package is destroyed. Most of the more higher quality figurines allow for the owner to remove the figures, and then re-pack them into their boxes if needed. Many of the lower cost figurines are not going to allow this.

It would be nice to state where you're from, as it also depends on that. ^What he said is true.Hmm I see. Well here in the United States only leaves me to search online for figures/figmas so shipping plus the figure itself already gets pretty expensive.
I can definitely see why there honestly is no "Cheap" Figure especially if you live in the US...
