I don't see it as being something that you could just "forget" you were wearing in any kind of sexual situation.

I also agree that it this would severely increase a womans chance of being beaten or killed. Unless the attacker is incompacitated in some way chances are that he'll either attack out of vengeance or out of fear that the woman will cause him to get arrested, assuming that he doesn't find it in the first place.
